As a trauma -informed therapist, I work with each person toward their individual goals and healing and used a variety of modalities and treatments which can include EMDR.
Hello. I know looking for a therapist can often be frustrating and requires courage. Taking steps toward your overall wellbeing and health are important. With the severity of stressors in our lives today, it is even more important to address the symptoms like anxiety, fear, depression, isolation, and relationship issues present in our lives. Many times these symptoms are effects of traumas, past and/or present that can include childhood abuse, sexual, physical, and psychological abuse, grief, loss, toxic work environments, navigating difficult family situations, and unexpected news.

I have had experience working with severe trauma , various mood and personality disorders, and couples and familes.
I work with adults, teens, families, and couples. I love working with the family system. When one part of the family is struggling the whole family feels it. Whether our work is individually or with the family I work with clients from a family systems lens to support growth and healing that impacts the family as a whole. Often my clients have experienced a trauma or life altering event and they just need support getting to the next step. I offer various modalities to meet you where you're at so that you can find your own path of healing.

It is in the experience of others and our own that at one time or another all of us have faced, is facing or will face some kind of adversity, distress, depression, anxiety, loss, abuse, neglect and trauma . During these seasons in life, fear, loneliness and/or being overwhelmed can feel as if we are stuck in quick sand. The more we fight to get out of the quicksand the more we sink, and hope can diminish. Clients say we meet them exactly where they are in their struggle. We learn the core challenges that are in front of them and together work towards a solution.

My heart centers around seeing each individual, couple and family become more whole, more connected to self and others, and ultimately connected to their spiritual core self. Each human being has been created with purpose and meaning. My belief is that pain comes in when deep truths become misconstrued due to various messages we've received or created from our brokenness, trauma , loss, and/or choices. I desire to walk alongside with people to help identify these messages or other origins of pain, and triumph past it.

I specialize in helping individuals heal from PTSD , trauma , anxiety, and low self-esteem.
Life and the emotions that come along with it can be overwhelming. Maybe you've realized how much it's taken its toll on you, and you're tired of pretending you're ok. You may often feel "less than" and find yourself working hard to please others. You feel there is something wrong with you. You find it difficult to be in present moment. You have intrusive painful memories from the past or worry often about the future. You are tired of feeling miserable and the best solution you've found is to avoid or numb emotions all together. It feels easier to "check out" from life than to feel the pain that has been buried so deep.

"Working with trauma is as much about remembering how we survived as it is about what is broken." These words were written by Bessel van der Kolk and are words that guide my practice as a therapist. We all face hard stuff in life, and for each person what that looks like differs and cannot be held up to others for comparison. Pain is Pain. The good news, however, is that also means that hope is hope and joy is joy. The hard events we face in our lives are teachers that give each of us an opportunity to face our fears head on and heal to fully embrace who we were always meant to become!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
