Danielle LaPorte asked the question best, “Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?” Can you remember when you loved and accepted yourself unapologetically, and embraced all the things about you that make you unique? As we age, we gain knowledge from life experiences and through those experiences we can soar to greatness or we can break and lose sight of who we really are, and become someone we were never meant to be. When we become someone less than who we were meant to be we can begin to experience anxiety, depression, substance abuse, loss of relationships and functional distress.

I have been a therapist since 1978. I taught undergraduate and graduate Psychology courses at Ottawa University (11 years) and Rio Salado College (17 years).I specialize in OCD and obsessive sexual behaviors but have treated nearly every type of client and diagnosis over the past four decades. I'm told I'm personable and that people feel comfortable with me immediately. I'm a good nonjudgmental listener and I believe that counseling should be a deep but intriguing investigation - not a painful one.

My ideal client is smart, self-aware, and tired of feeling stuck. They’re navigating identity confusion, dating burnout, anxiety, or family dynamics that still feel too loud in their head. They want to break patterns, stop second-guessing themselves, and feel emotionally grounded—for real this time. Many are Millennials or Gen Z, juggling cultural expectations, perfectionism, and self-doubt. They’re not broken—they’re just exhausted. They want a therapist who gets it, speaks their language, and helps them trust themselves again.

You’re ready to pause, explore what’s needed, and slowly rediscover what matters to you. If that’s you, I’ll walk alongside you—deeply present, steady, and without judgment.

I blend various modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, person-centered therapy, Jungian psychology, family systems, and positive psychology, etc
You cannot recover from anxiety by just remaining calm, or depression by just being positive. Recovery from the battles of life takes time, patience, and releasing old habits. Whether you’re facing mental illness, parenting, relationships, or life transitions; change must occur in order for peace to resurface. It's okay to feel unstable, it's ok for things to not be ok, and it's okay to ask for help.

Healing is messy, and it’s also beautiful! You may feel stuck in a cycle that’s painful and no longer serves you, or you have a desire to look further inward. No matter the reason that brought you, I am glad you are here. It is 100% okay to ask for help, no matter what people have told you. Challenges are inevitable in life and are often a cue to action. When challenges go unresolved or unaddressed, they may get in the way of how you feel about yourself. The good news is there are many things you can learn and unlearn about yourself and the world you live in. I will support you through that learning and healing process.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, trauma, or confusing relationship patterns that leave them questioning themselves. You may feel stuck in cycles you can't fully explain, struggling to trust your instincts or understand why certain experiences continue to affect you.
Often these struggles are rooted in unresolved trauma or relational wounds from past experiences. Many clients I work with are recovering from emotionally harmful relationships or navigating major life transitions that disrupt their sense of stability and identity.

Mary Oliver says, "Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting - over and over announcing your place in the family of things." I believe your life is inherently valuable. Your story has meaning. Even in the midst of uncertainty, I firmly believe there is an opportunity for fullness, healing, and belonging. My hope as a licensed therapist is to meet with those in the midst of pain and self-loss as they pursue growth and a greater sense of connection and authenticity.

How does Jungian therapy work?
Jungian therapy, also called analytical psychology, focuses on a patient’s inner experiences and unconscious mind. Exploring a person’s unconscious mind can be achieved through several means, including the analysis of memories and dreams, and through physical exercises, such as art, dance, and word association.
How long does Jungian therapy last?
Jungian therapy is an intensive treatment type. Because its goal is to understand a person as a whole, including the unconscious aspects of them, treatment can range from months to years. Since patients learn the theory behind Jungian therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have completed.
Is Jungian therapy effective?
According to studies, many patients find success with Jungian therapy, and the century-old treatment has a devoted following. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Improvements in problem areas seem to continue even after the end of Jungian therapy, as people are able to continue working on themselves using the tools they’ve learned during the treatment.
Is Jungian therapy evidence-based?
Jungian therapy is theory-based, derived from the theories of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist often called one of the fathers of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. Jung developed his theories from observing the problems of patients, and developed many theories of how the mind works. Subsequent psychological research has determined that Jungian therapy can lead to significant improvement in most patients.
