I help people untangle the mess—whether it’s anxiety, grief, trauma, burnout, or just feeling lost in the chaos of life. You don’t have to show up perfect or have it all figured out. I’ll meet you where you are, bring a mix of evidence-based tools (CBT, DBT, existential therapy), and tailor things to what actually works for you. We can dive deep, process the hard stuff, or just try to make sense of what’s going on. I also believe that therapy can include humor, memes, and real talk. If you’re overwhelmed, exhausted from masking, or just need someone to say “yeah, that makes sense”—I got you.

Here we go again - that's what you think as you roll your eyes because you and your partner have just gotten in a fight for the umpteenth time that day and it ends yet again with either a) them shutting down and zeroing in on their phones or b) them verbally diarrhea-ing all over you (sorry, I know that's a pretty graphic descriptor, but you get the point, right?) And what happens next when things have supposedly calmed down? Nothing - that's the problem, right? Nothing has happened and you so desperately want a change because you're sick of the same problems and the same fights and the same stupid phone getting in the way.

My goal is to help you understand your experience, deconstruct limiting beliefs/behaviors and rebuild a meaningful existence. Joy is defined by those who seek it. I will provide emotional support while we explore what actions and beliefs will reinforce your wellbeing. I use an EFT model with couples that are navigating differences. The purpose of this model is designed to deepen understanding of yourself and each other while developing/strengthening the skills needed to grow together. I use ART, a bilateral desensitization technique, to offer relief from phobias, unhelpful habits, limiting beliefs, rumination and distress.

My goal as a counselor is to meet clients exactly where they are, providing a soft and supportive space to share their stories and process their experiences. I believe healing happens through connection, curiosity, and compassion. As a counselor, my role is to walk alongside clients—not in front of them—as we explore their stories, uncover their strengths, and move toward their goals.

Motherhood is no joke! It can be lonely, scary, and overwhelming. One day leads to another and you’re exhausted, frustrated, and on edge. Scary thoughts never let up and leave you feeling like a bad mom. Everything is hard and no one seems to understand. People say annoying things like, "Enjoy every moment!" You wish you could, but it's just not that easy. The loneliness, anger, resentment, and guilt make everything harder and you're in survival mode. You might feel like you've lost your sense of self and wonder if you will ever feel like "you" again. The answer is YES! You're not alone. I understand, and I can help.

Hello! I am Heather Vance, a Licensed Professional Counselor entering on my 24th year helping children, teens, adults, & families work through painful life events and build skills essential to wellbeing: self-awareness, emotional regulation, adaptability, value-based living and effective relationship practices. I am EMDR Certified and specialize in helping children and adults with ADHD understand their brains, manage challenges, and harness their unique cognitive gifts. Change is a process, not an "on/off" switch; lasting change occurs in stages and is characterized by ambivalence, failure, adaptation, and growth.

Does it ever feel like your brain never really slows down, even when you are completely tapped out? You might bounce between bursts of motivation and total exhaustion, or feel overwhelmed when small things do not go as planned. The constant mental to do list, overstimulation, and pressure to keep everything together can leave you drained and frustrated. Over time, these struggles can chip away at confidence and fuel a loud inner critic. In therapy, we will slow the chaos, strengthen emotional regulation, and help you get unstuck so life feels steadier, calmer, and more manageable.
