Seeking therapy is courageous and vulnerable and choosing a therapist can be challenging. A trusting and connected relationship with a therapist where you can bring your full self without experiencing judgement is essential for change, since our distress is often related to disconnection from others or ourselves. Therefore, my primary focus is on building an accepting and safe therapeutic relationship while also appreciating your individual needs and remaining flexible in our work together. From this relationship , we will be able to identify factors preventing change and help you work toward living a meaningful life consistent with your values and goals.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and Arizona, who has practiced for over 20 years with children, adolescents, adults, and couples certified in many modalities including CBT, DBT, and EXRP.
You're not sure when it started but you no longer feel confident, secure, or in control of your own body or thoughts. Has anxiety, worry and stress robbed you of time, energy, and sleep? Do you find yourself battling intrusive, disturbing thoughts, fears or images? You can feel calmer and in control again. My approach is kind, thoughtful and encouraging. I know how hard it can be to develop connected, resilient, truly joyful relationships. I also know the rewards are worth it! I can help you become your "best self"; emotionally, socially, relationally, and professionally.

The relationship with your therapist is important.
***ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS FOR IN OFFICE OR VIDEO*** Many of us know there is a need for change. The problematic areas can be clear, and you may need help understanding the "how's". For others, the chaos can be so much that thinking straight to know what to “fix” is like finding Dorothy in a tornado. Or maybe there isn’t a “problem” but rather a goal that you wish to achieve and need someone to support you. As your therapist, I will listen to you on what you need and want for your life. Wherever you are in your readiness for change, I will be your guide towards that transformation.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
