I am a part of the Help and Hope Counseling team. My passion is for parenting and motherhood which are some of the most difficult seasons we will endure. This is even harder if you have suffered the tragedy of your child dying. Every baby matters no matter how small. I help families navigate their life after a loss and learn how to integrate/love their baby/child into their day-to-day life. This helps to bring meaning to their traumatic loss and pain. Clients will get coping skills and help with the processing of their loss.

Life has gotten hard enough that you’re finally reaching out for support. You’ve been looking into counseling for a while now and you know finding the right counselor is essential. You’ve skimmed a few therapists' profiles, but no one seems like the right fit. You want someone that understands your fears and worries. Someone who gets it when you share your uncertainties about your partner being “the one” for you. You are asking for support, clarity and connection to the world around you. Connection is important to you, and it's important to me too.

My preferred clients are adults and older adolescents who have varied needs to include trauma recovery, LGBTQ+, veterans, and couples therapy. I am a military veteran so have a true understanding of military issues. I am not afraid of complex issues or socially "taboo" topics. I appreciate clients who are invested in bettering themselves, are inquisitive, and willing to learn. If you are a person who wants on open, honest, therapist who will ask you to question yourself in order to learn and grow then I may be what you're seeking. I am enrolled with www.HelloAlma.com and accept United, Cigna, and Aetna insurance.

Accepting New Clients! I enjoy working with clients from all walks of life. My primary goal is to understand the tapestry of experiences that have shaped the human sitting in front of me. I believe that desire to learn and understand, creates a safe environment that allows hard things to be talked about. With the ability to tell their story, clients can process and heal. I have been fortunate enough over the course of my career, to have been able to work with clients experiencing a multitude of difficulties ranging from low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, lack of motivation, relationship distress, women's issues, trauma and more.

Sometimes patterns that kept us safe in our past no longer serve us in the present. Maybe you had to avoid vulnerability at all costs to get through and survive a tough situation, but now you might have friends, family, or partners voicing concerns that they don’t really know you. Maybe you felt that you had to be the caretaker and hold everything together, but now you find yourself overworked, overwhelmed, and struggling to find the motivation for day-to-day challenges. Maybe seemingly small situations leave you feeling like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster. Sometimes these patterns are the echoes of trauma.

I specialize in teaching adults how to have a more satisfying sense of control over their own lives, and a greater sense of connection to themselves and others through individualized, supportive therapy sessions. Stress makes us anxious. When we are anxious, we become reactive and defensive. Each of us has a unique set of unconscious, habitual coping strategies that kicks-in automatically under stress. I use a unique combination of therapeutic tools to teach men and women how to respond rather than react to the big and the small and the positive and the negative stressors that life deals us.

Sometimes things feel hopeless, and fear can hold us back from seeking help when we are too preoccupied with being judged, especially as a parent working with a child that has mental or behavioral health challenges. Successful treatment begins with fostering trust, hope, and implementing strategies that really work. I am a culturally competent therapist with experience working with youth of all ages, adults, veterans, and families. I have a lot of experience working with foster youth in the system and helping adoptive/foster parents be preventative in handling behaviors in order to strengthen attachment.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy and Master Certified Life Coaching available for Individual, Couple, Child, and Family Counseling. I offer real solutions for Communication, Anger, Depression, ADHD, Anxiety, PTSD. When we stress our reactivity leads to regressive and unhealthy coping behaviors. Unfortunately, the mental health field often uses diagnoses to label behavior when really what is needed is counseling or Life Coaching around attachment styles and various coping skills. You are not your diagnosis, and our therapeutic process includes removing or reducing stress and establishing a healthy, constructive coping strategy.

You have thought about speaking to someone and calling for an appointment, as you have been holding so much in. You know it might be helpful to connect to a therapist. But thinking about the process of reaching out or trying to find one that fits, adds onto all the demands you have to deal with already. You wonder if there is a therapist that can relate to you, especially if it feels like there is a wall with others in your life. Or you may have been to good meaning providers that made good points, but it just didn't impact you or reach deep.

How can I find a therapist in Cochise County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
