I am a short term, wellness oriented and goal focused therapist. A joyful and purpose driven life is what most of us strive for. Sometimes we are temporarily knocked off the track by an unexpected life event or ongoing life situation that appears to be hopeless or unsolvable. These roadblocks, however, can be overcome with will, good support and the right tools necessary to change our attitudes and life circumstances so that life works for us, not against us, once again. For anxiety and depression I incorporate meditation, tapping, vagus nerve stimulation and relaxation exercises into my sessions to help you regain control.

Trauma has a way of staying with you — in your body, your relationships, and the quiet moments when you least expect it. Whether you're navigating the aftermath of something that happened long ago or something still unfolding, you don't have to keep carrying it alone. This is a space built for the full complexity of who you are — your identity, your story, the relationships that have shaped you — honored without judgment. Healing is possible, and it doesn't require you to have the right words or the whole picture. You just have to be willing to show up. The rest, we figure out together.

As a master's level Christian counselor, I integrate spirituality and relationships into my practice because I believe that addiction is a spiritual, relational and systemic disease.
I believe trauma is the core of substance and behavioral compulsions. Many traumas and subsequent compulsions/addictions are transgenerational. Therefore, family and loved ones are important to lasting recovery, but let's begin the healing process with understanding the root issues. I use 12 Step facilitation through AA tradition and the Life Recovery Bible.

You’re dealing with patterns that don’t fully make sense—but keep repeating.
Maybe it shows up as anxiety, relationship struggles, emotional overwhelm, or feeling disconnected from yourself. You might understand something needs to change, but not why it keeps happening or how to actually stop it.
Trauma doesn’t just stay in the past—it affects how you think, react, and relate day to day.
I help you work at multiple levels: understanding where these patterns come from, and learning what to do differently in your daily life.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
