You keep it all together for everyone else, but inside you feel anxious, disconnected, or on edge. I help adults heal the lasting impact of childhood trauma and emotional neglect so they can feel safe, connected, and confident in relationships. Together, we’ll identify the patterns that keep you stuck, regulate your nervous system, and create real emotional freedom. These patterns aren’t your fault. They began as protection — shaped by early experiences of feeling unseen, unsafe, or not enough. Now, those same patterns block the closeness and peace you want most.

My goal is to provide a safe trusting environment to empower & motivate clients to explore issues in their lives that have contributed to the development of maladaptive thinking & behavior patterns. These patterns are often not recognized as problematic and can contribute to making "poor decisions" such as substance abuse, overeating, blaming, relationship problems etc.... By resolving these issues and changing these patterns clients can discover personal growth, happiness & improved satisfaction with their lives.

My specialties include trauma, substance use recovery, mood disorders, LGBTQ+ support, and gender-affirming care.
Healing is a personal journey, and I provide a compassionate, supportive space for growth. Life's challenges, past experiences, and obstacles can sometimes make it hard to feel safe expressing our true, authentic selves. These inner narratives can weigh us down, making it difficult to connect with our inner strength.

The shame of not being in control of your life can feel so isolating and anxiety provoking. And the thought of talking about it with someone else can feel paralyzing at times. How did I get here? Why can't I fix this on my own? Why do I keep going back? What is wrong with me? Do I have a drinking problem? Why can't I sleep? Do I need to quit or can I just cut back? Why is my relationship so difficult? These nagging thoughts could go on and on.

Life can feel overwhelming when your thoughts won’t slow down, when old experiences still echo in the background, or when relationships and responsibilities begin to feel heavier than you can carry alone. You may find yourself trying to push through each day while feeling stuck, exhausted, or uncertain about how things got this difficult. In therapy, the focus is on creating a safe and grounded space where your experiences are understood without judgment, and where we can gently explore what you’ve been holding on your own.

Getting sober can be hard! I provide my clients with insight, support, empathy, and purpose as they walk down the road of recovery by helping them make sense of their world and clean up their wreckage. Most people have very little to no understanding of why they use and all they do know is that their addiction is destroying their relationships, ruining their health, and hurting their stability and well-being in life. I can help you understand the underlying reasons why your addiction may be there and how to overcome and be free. I am very familiar with the challenges of getting sober and am here to help with your struggles!

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
