I also support clients facing infertility and other life transitions that can re-activate old wounds of grief and powerlessness.
You keep it all together for everyone else, but inside you feel anxious, disconnected, or on edge. I help adults heal the lasting impact of childhood trauma and emotional neglect so they can feel safe, connected, and confident in relationships. Together, we’ll identify the patterns that keep you stuck, regulate your nervous system, and create real emotional freedom. These patterns aren’t your fault. They began as protection — shaped by early experiences of feeling unseen, unsafe, or not enough. Now, those same patterns block the closeness and peace you want most.

My goal is to provide a safe trusting environment to empower & motivate clients to explore issues in their lives that have contributed to the development of maladaptive thinking & behavior patterns. These patterns are often not recognized as problematic and can contribute to making "poor decisions" such as substance abuse, overeating, blaming, relationship problems etc.... By resolving these issues and changing these patterns clients can discover personal growth, happiness & improved satisfaction with their lives.

If you’re here, you might be feeling stuck. Maybe you understand where your patterns come from, but that insight hasn’t actually changed the trauma responses, intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness, or coping strategies that don’t feel helpful anymore. That can be exhausting. I offer therapy that’s compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in helping your nervous system feel safe. We’ll explore the protective patterns that once helped you survive, process difficult experiences at your pace, and create space for reflection.

As a psychologist, I find it most important to create a safe and nonjudgmental environment, where children, adolescents and adults feel comfortable and understood. I often work closely with parents and children, teaching "tools" that help families function better. These include respectful communication, anger management, and how to deal with excess anxiety or depression. I believe the past affects our present, and our thoughts affect our feelings and actions. I provide the skills that allow clients of any age to confidently move forward to a happier, healthier place.

I work with clients who may have trouble grieving or expressing anger in healthy ways.
I was a facilitator for the STAR Foundation for roughly 20 years. I was the STAR Clinical Director for 6 years. I trained with Dr Arthur Janov and was a Primal Therapist for 4 years. My specialty is helping clients heal by helping them reconnect to their feelings and reconnect to who they really are, beneath and before fear took over (in one form or other).

Trauma leaves us feeling constantly fearful or numb. The stress and tension in our bodies persist even when there is "nothing wrong." You may be exhausted from feeling this way but powerless to change because no one seems to understand, and nothing seems to work. Whether you have been to countless medical professionals, or this is your first-time considering therapy, you are ready for some relief. You are ready to let go of anxiety and depression dictating your choices. You are ready to wake up in the morning with a sense of hope rather than dread. You are ready to like the person you see in the mirror.

Immediate Availability! We live in a time where disconnection is the norm, and our need for community and deep, trusting relationships with ourselves and others is necessary. Navigating life’s uncharted experiences alone when we don’t possess the tools is frustrating and can feel, at times, unbearable. We become uncomfortable in our bodies, or we don’t feel our bodies at all. This situation forces us to live in our thinking minds, often aligned with distorted beliefs we carry forward from long ago. Through this veil, we see our environment from a lower level of being and find ourselves surviving rather than thriving.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
