Treatment may include EMDR, ERP, IFS, somatic therapy, and ACT, to process experiences, understand patterns, and build regulation skills.
If you’re here, you might be feeling stuck. Maybe you understand where your patterns come from, but that insight hasn’t actually changed the trauma responses, intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness, or coping strategies that don’t feel helpful anymore. That can be exhausting.
I offer therapy that’s compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in helping your nervous system feel safe. We’ll explore the protective patterns that once helped you survive, process difficult experiences at your pace, and create space for reflection.

I am trained in EMDR.
So glad you're here. I'm accepting, flexible and nonjudgmental. When deep emotional wounds and needs are tended to, we often function better because we feel better. We may find that we embrace unhelpful beliefs about ourselves and others after experiencing difficulties. Befriending and/or challenging the inner critic is essential and enlightening; this process will even be fun at times! Thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and environment are dynamically intertwined. There are several entry points of interruption to strategically approach life’s challenges, or “opportunities for excellence”. Small steps are preferred!

The ideal therapy client is the individual who needs help and approaches psychotherapy as highly motivated and committed to make change. Individuals who seek therapy have been in emotional pain for a long period of time. Many struggle and feel stuck in the present with issues they haven't effectively dealt with from their past. In this way, present problems become a trigger for an unresolved past trauma. The client who is seeking alleviation from emotional pain, chronic anxiety, and depression, especially from past trauma and abuse is the client who will benefit from my expertise.

My approach to therapy is through the lens of EMDR which takes into account how the past influences the present and the future, while also trusting that within each of us is the inherent ability to move towards healing.
You're striving to come across like you've got it all together, and likely in many ways you do, but inside you don't feel confident in yourself, and you struggle with keeping the past in the past. You may be fed up with the overthinking and the second-guessing, or the constant knot in your stomach. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to start feeling safe and secure with yourself. You’re ready to trust your inner voice and love yourself. Most of all, you’re ready to become your own best friend.

I use expressive approaches and EMDR to help those experiencing infertility and grief.
Infertility leaves you feeling emotionally drained from the endless cycle of hope and heartbreak - like your life is on hold while everyone else is moving forward. You’re someone who is used to seeing results when you work hard. You’ve tried everything and still feel frustrated, left behind, constant uncertainty, and like your body has betrayed you. You may have a suspicion that there are deeper emotional blocks or experiences keeping you stuck in this loop and you’re craving peace, to feel less overwhelmed, and a path forward. You’re tired of putting on a brave face and need something more than to “just relax.”

Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
