Everyone’s childhood plays itself out.” Our first understanding of ourselves comes from the first people we know. Psychologically known as our sense of Self or Agency, the other relationships we participate in tend to reflect those aspects of ourselves previously learned. I specialize in successfully treating the presenting symptoms of childhood trauma as well as those who suffer from often self-limiting thoughts regarding substance abuse, social and intrapersonal anxieties, clinical, situational and abandonment depression. I would also include the often self-sabotaging and socially unacceptable unresolved rage.

It has been a privilege to work with a wide range of individuals, couples, families, and groups, including children, teens, and adults. When conceptualizing collaboratively with a client, I want to work towards identifying the core, underlying issue. Symptom management is important, but in conjunction with this, we will strive to find the roots of the presenting problem. In this way, we can empower you to be autonomous, empowered, and emboldened.

Do painful, distressing memories from your past keep you from having the life you want? I've helped many people make peace with their very worst memories, allowing them to build lives, love, and futures that had been out of reach before. Together we can help you take back control. Do you struggle with sexual behaviors that you can't control, or with guilt or shame about your behaviors or desires? I also have excellent experience helping clients with out-of-control or maladaptive sexual behaviors, what others often call "sex addiction".

Whether you are in the grip of past trauma, the cycle of addiction, or the weight of depression and anxiety—you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’ve spent years working at The Meadows in Wickenburg and other treatment centers, helping people find their way back to themselves, and I know that real healing is truly possible. Trauma can shape how we see the world and ourselves, often in ways we don’t even realize. Addiction, anxiety, and depression aren’t just struggles—they’re signals that something deeper needs attention.

It feels exhausting when life’s daily stressors become too heavy to carry alone. You might be struggling to balance difficult family dynamics, feeling overwhelmed by circumstances out of your control, or simply searching for a way to breathe a little easier. When you are constantly pouring from an empty cup, it can feel impossible to find the peace and acceptance you deserve. I help children, adults, and families bridge the gap between feeling stuck and feeling capable.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
