As a therapist, I’m able to focus on deeper conversations and help on a more personal level; to quote Paul Young, I get to “walk on the holy ground of other people’s stories.” I work with people navigating depression, anxiety, relational distress, trauma, major life transitions, and much more. I specialize in working with men wanting to grow into healthier relationships and emotional awareness, adolescents and young adults struggling to cope and build meaningful lives, couples seeking stronger and healthier connections, and those who might benefit from a corrective experience with a grounded and compassionate male therapist.

You tend to overthink. You often feel tense. You don't know how to turn your brain "off". You’re high-functioning on the outside but feel exhausted on the inside. Anxiety, rumination, self-doubt, and emotional overload tend to show up quietly, but they take a real toll on your focus, relationships, and self-worth. Therapy can help. My approach is pretty simple: I'm a person first, therapist second. I don't offer clichés or surface-level advice. My approach is real, warm, and collaborative. I pull from ACT, CBT, and DBT to help you better understand your mind. I accept most major insurances and respond fast.

My ideal client grapples with anxiety and self-doubt, often feeling overwhelmed by negative thought patterns that hinder personal and professional growth. They seek effective strategies to challenge these unhelpful thoughts and foster self-acceptance. Deep down, they desire to break free from the constraints of fear and live a life that aligns with their true values. Their goals include building resilience, enhancing emotional regulation, and cultivating meaningful relationships. Ultimately, they want to experience a more fulfilling and authentic life, where they can confidently pursue their passions and navigate challenges.

What do you want? How do you want to be different? What do you want your life to reflect about you, what you care about, what your values are? Therapists "can" be honest, truthful and direct with clients. I have a commitment to be direct with empathy and compassion to each and every client I work with in my office. Therapy can be solution focused with a clearly defined plan driven by the client. Vague goals, vague results. I shall not make false promises. In my practice, you are purchasing help not window dressing.

Hey! I’m Scott. I genuinely love helping others reach their goals. Therapy can feel intimidating, because asking for help is a vulnerable spot to be in and you want to be able to trust whoever you work with. My goal for us is to figure out what matters to you and what you want out of therapy – and move toward that. When you become more fully the person you were created to be – it changes everything.

Do any of these situations describe you? (A) You never intended to end up here, but a line was crossed and now the truth of your hidden behaviors is out. (B) You used to be the guy who got things done, but lately, the engine has stalled. On the outside, you’re going through the motions, but inside, every single day feels like pushing a boulder uphill. (C) You’ve spent years burying the past, telling yourself that what happened back then doesn’t matter anymore. But lately, you’re realizing the past isn’t dead—it’s running your life.

Does it feel like you’re "on" 24/7 but getting nowhere? Maybe your brain won't shut off, or you feel depression, anxiety, and/or trauma, are causing you to repeat the same losing patterns and cause relationship difficulties. You might be "successful" on paper, but internally, you feel stuck in a cycle of stress, low energy and spiraling thoughts. I’m Sukhmani, and I can guide you through a journey of personal growth to rediscover your internal strength, resilience and adaptability. I know the value of accountability when hitting the "reset" button. My approach is informed by my own path through many life pivots that men face:

It's been a while since you have felt like yourself. Every day is a struggle and you often wonder when things will be normal again. You find your mind racing, while fear robs you of a hopeful tomorrow. You feel like you have tried everything to bring peace and comfort to your situation, but the problems seem to be growing day by day. You ask yourself how things have progressed to this point? Depression and anxiety seem to rule your next step and have zapped you of any hope you have for tomorrow. The journey has been long and difficult and you’re tired and want to see changes happen.

It is in the experience of others and our own that at one time or another all of us have faced, is facing or will face some kind of adversity, distress, depression, anxiety, loss, abuse, neglect and trauma. During these seasons in life, fear, loneliness and/or being overwhelmed can feel as if we are stuck in quick sand. The more we fight to get out of the quicksand the more we sink, and hope can diminish. Clients say we meet them exactly where they are in their struggle. We learn the core challenges that are in front of them and together work towards a solution.

You may feel stuck in patterns that are affecting your relationships, confidence, or ability to cope with daily life. Anxiety, addiction, trauma, depression, or even major life transitions can leave you feeling disconnected and exhausted. Even so, part of you is ready for something different. I work with adults who are open to exploring the thoughts, behaviors, and experiences that may be holding them back so they can build healthier patterns, stronger relationships, and a greater sense of balance and purpose.

Powerful changes can happen in people's lives much faster than they think. I practice Solution-Focused Therapy: I help you see the deepest strengths you have, the things that helped you make it this far. We use your joyful experiences, your best skills, your quirks, and your deepest motivations to help you overcome the challenges you face now. It's simple, positive, and fast. You don't have to learn any new jargon. We won't dwell too long on what you think might be wrong with you. Quite the opposite. I'm more interested in learning what you were doing in the moments you believed there was something right with you. That's the target.

My ideal client is the one who has been imprisoned by their own mind and is seeking someone to liberate them. I serve First Responders, Veterans, Parents, and Business Professionals. I will assist with the jailbreak, but I also know a person who does the actual work. His name is Jesus. I often describe faith integration like a “volume setting.” You decide how much or how little you want Scripture, prayer, and the Holy Spirit to be an explicit part of our sessions. Whether you are still on “milk” or ready for “solid food” in your walk, I will respect your pace and your process.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
