I am Averie Skillern, M.Ed., LPC and I approach therapy through the lens of a trauma focused child and family therapist. I work with children, adolescents, and parent’s strengths to promote healing and self-awareness in different avenues of their lives. My communication style is playful and direct when working with clients. I provide a healing and playful environment to promote comfort and healing for my clients.
I approach goal setting with a strengths based and collaborative approach in order to meet my client where they are at in their healing journey.
What my clients should expect in their first session is a series of questions to get to know the client better whether that is through a game or casual conversation. Then we will collaborate on goals and reflect on strengths and coping strategies that have been working for you.
