I am a licensed professional counselor in Harrisonburg, VA with specialized training for trauma counseling, biofeedback, and equine assisted psychotherapy (as an add-on to office-based sessions). I believe that the symptoms we experience are from hurt parts of ourselves that have been disconnected or hidden, and healing comes from rebuilding that relationship within yourself and with others. I enjoy taking the journey alongside my clients as they build awareness of how their inner world impacts relationships, so that they can find safety, comfort, protection, and joy again in themselves and the world around them.
I am trained in parts work, DBT, biofeedback, and somatic experiential therapies. My approach to counseling is trauma-focused and based in relationship with self and others. I believe in using a somatic experiential approach with use of movement, rhythm, experiential regulation tactics, and exploration of inner parts of one's identity/sense of self.
I believe that we all experience hurt in relationships, with self and with others, that can shape our inner self-talk and our ability to handle the emotions or turmoils in life. However, each of us can find inner healing from the most painful of experiences by connecting into ourselves and learning our trauma patterns. I want to join you in that journey!
