I use methods including mindfulness, Somatic EMDR,Jungian psychology,, trauma-informed care, and attachment-based therapies to facilitate this discovery and healing process.
My practice is about creating and enhancing a meaningful life. Through a belief that our disturbances--about ourselves, others or life in general - lead us to the doorway of toward wholeness, we work together to unfold the seed of the solution from within the problems. Thus, I approach each client with a desire to follow and facilitate their unique healing process. Through deep compassion toward self, dreamwork and process work, I identify lesser conscious aspects of one's self, which we work together to bring into awareness. With this awareness one can find more meaning and a stronger purpose in life.

We experience difficulties. We are all worthy of love and belonging. I provide a safe haven, a supportive non-judgmental place to grow and heal. I enjoy sharing the journey as motivated individuals and couples release patterns which no longer serve them, while discovering their strengths, resilience, goals, and, new ways of being and sharing. Sometimes, we need to acknowledge our limitations and reach for help to find our way. I am here for clients as they explore feelings and needs, and discover paths to more vibrant, connected lives ~ while making changes, or being with "what is" with new perspectives.

Ever feel like you're on the outside looking in? Maybe it's your gender, your weight, your sexual orientation, your race, your spiritual beliefs, your past experiences... Somehow you just don't fit. You tell yourself if you could find the right person, or look a certain way, or just forget about what happened to you, you'd break through. Instead, all these reasons pile up and separate you from the life you "should" be living. Sound familiar? I work with clients every day who struggle to connect, and I see how the loneliness eats at them. They're so desperate for change, but they feel trapped by old patterns.

Therapy can be a dynamic experience creating hope and energy. Facing challenges and grieving losses we inevitably face is a powerful step in moving toward a more satisfying present. I view therapy as a collaboration with you to create your transformation and growth. Our past experiences shape our view of ourselves and in turn our potential in the future. I hope to assist you to "re-author" the stories you have about yourself not serving a positive purpose and replace them with new stories, skills and a vision that do.

Our hearts long for authentic connection to ourselves and others - and the sense of aliveness that results from being truly ourselves as we relate. Sometimes, however, reactive patterns arise and displace our competent adult functioning with unregulated emotional states such as anxiety, anger, insecurity, or depression. Often there is no context or overt memory associated with such experiences, which are thought to have their roots in insufficient neural organization. Our neural organization, as it turns out, can adapt and change, giving us access to more and more emotional freedom and contentment.

I believe that you can have a great life no matter the issues and feelings you currently have. This possibility may be hard to imagine now, but that is what I help you do. My job is to help you clarify what you want and then to achieve this. We all have a "wise mind" and heart in us. The wise mind can become obscured by stress and circumstance, but this is what you come to therapy to discover. With encouragement and support, you can learn to trust your path and solve whatever your current problems are. I work with motivated people who want to improve their lives.

I cannot promise you that your trauma will magically be lifted off your shoulders after our first meeting… But what I can promise you, is that you have a strength within you that you are not seeing right now. While some of those challenges might never go away completely, they do not have to define who you are. You can learn to live with them and live a happy life full of joy.

As you recognize the lack of love you give yourself, you’re starting to see how much you need it. You’ve been putting yourself last for so long that you’re yearning to find a place where you truly belong. You’re tired of basing your choices on other people’s opinions and you’re ready to break through and claim your purpose. You believed your life would have meaning. That you would feel accomplished and successful in all aspects. You knew you’d face adversity, but you honestly believed that you could overcome anything. But, when you look at your life today, you feel defeated, used, and insignificant. You’re struggling to measure.

As a mental health counselor, it has always been my privilege to work alongside clients. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship and the connection that derives our humanity. Each individual has such a personal experience in which their life has been based. I believe in meeting clients where they are at, working toward personal goals, tailoring interventions to meet these needs, and challenging individuals to make changes that ultimately lead to the development of a life in which they feel they can thrive.

Life transitions are an unavoidable part of the human experience though we need not stop living a valued life during changing life circumstances. I believe every individual holds the strength, intuition and ability to heal from suffering. I work to help client's identify and tap into their power and confidence to live a rich and balanced life where past experiences do not define or diminish self worth. I work collaboratively with clients to set up and work toward living a desired life and a regained sense of control even in the face of trauma and pain.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
