Hi, I am Sue Middleton. A little about me: I grew up in Los Angeles, California. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology, degrees in marriage and family therapy and clinical social work, as well as a doctorate in family sociology.

Healing is not linear, but takes time, effort, patience, and a lot of self-compassion. As your therapist, I will act as your guide to building this self-compassion as well as self-esteem and self-confidence. My goal as your therapist is to not only help you to feel emotionally and physically safe, but to also help you to build this safety with yourself, or within your partnership, or other important relationships. As a marriage and family therapist, I have experience working with families of different backgrounds and upbringings, with couples of all ages, with children (primarily 10+), and many teenagers.

But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.” Being an avid Harry Potter, Disney fan has taught me a lot of things in my life. I have been a therapist for over 10 + years. I specialize in all types of traumas (i.e. family or origins, bullying, chronic health, divorce, adjustment issues, life change, grief, to all types of abuse and harm), depression, addiction, and anxiety. I work with individuals, families, couples, the LGTBQIA+ community, first responders/military, and ages 6-96+.

Sometimes parts of our life can feel overwhelming and debilitating. It can be difficult to know who to turn to and what to do. I recognize how important it is to have someone to provide tools and techniques to reach a point of healing. My approach to therapeutic treatment is to work collaboratively with my clients. I am passionate about helping clients process and move past trauma to a healthier and happier future. My clients have come to therapy because they're looking to pull themselves out of crisis, understand themselves better, find answers, and create action plans to build and maintain the life they want and deserve. Sometimes, they just need to vent about life - And that's just as important! Their ultimate goal is to find some sense of peace and happiness within themselves, their relationships, life trajectory, self-image, spirituality, and/or sexuality. Underlying discontent with life can derive from a variety of sources whether it's mental illness, general life stressors, or both.

I am EMDR trained, so I can provide extensive help dealing with traumas from your past and present.

Difficult life experiences resulted in times when I felt stuck. I was riddled with shame and guilt, and crippled with worry and fear. Then, I allowed myself to be vulnerable and met with a therapist. I had a profound experience in therapy. It was healing and helped me immensely. This led me to a lifelong calling to be of service. That is why I am here.
