As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have worked in the private practice setting for the past 16 years. In 2010, In SC I opened and managed a private practice centered on helping individuals and spouses struggling with sexual addictions. I frequently work with children, adolescents, and adults and have experience and expertise helping people affected by depression, disruptive behaviors, bipolar disorder, anxiety (including OCD and panic), ADHD, trauma, infidelity, divorce, addictions (substance, pornography, and sexual), and eating disorders. I also work with couples and families to repair and strengthen their relationships.
Prior to private practice, I worked mainly with adolescents including a residential treatment center for adolescents struggling with oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, substance abuse, child oncology, trauma, and grief. I also worked as an intern and later was hired at an adolescent psychiatric unit in a hospital setting.
My approach to treatment is individualized and client centered, based on unconditional positive regard and acceptance. I demonstrate empathy, compassion, and a desire to understand. I use an eclectic blend of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and collaborative couple's therapy.
