You've been pushing along for so long, just trying to get by. Struggling with managing your emotions, you find yourself withdrawing, having less patience for those you are closest to. Perhaps being intimate and close with your partner feels impossible, or is painful and unfulfilling. What you are feeling is valid and deserves a space to be heard and healed. Each person's path to wholeness is unique. Let's help you heal, feel more connected, and find the peace you deserve.

I believe in the power of connection. I believe in the healing and growth that can take place by allowing yourself to sit in a non-judgmental safe space. To tell your story, your truth, without the distraction of kids, spouse, partner, work, and technology. I can help you build resiliency and develop coping strategies for increased distress tolerance. I work with young adults and adults in areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, low self esteem, and mood issues.

Life can be crazy great, yet crazy HARD! Sometimes, despite your best efforts, things don't go as planned. In fact, sometimes life gets completely out of control. Like now. Right? Otherwise you wouldn't be taking this difficult step of seeking help. You aren't sure what happened or what went wrong, but you are sure that this isn't what you thought this season of your life would look like. Our 1st session of therapy won't fix the problems or make them go away...in fact, our 4th session likely won't make the problem go away either, but it will help you find the answers, courage and strength within yourself to keep going and heal.

I believe we all have an inner wisdom calling to us, asking us to pay attention. Sometimes this shows up as anxiety, depression, pain, exhaustion, anger, relationship struggles, frustration, and fear. When these visitors appear, they can overwhelm our ability to cope with everyday life. Caught in the struggle, it can be difficult to find our way through, to listen and understand what this wisdom is trying to tell us. In our sessions, I offer non-judgmental attention, presence, creativity, and intuitive curiosity - creating a relationship that allows my clients to discover their innate ability to grow and find healing.

I use a trauma-informed and attachment-based approach.
I deeply enjoy working with adults with ADHD, anxiety, and/or depression, and those who want to gain a deeper understanding of who they are. You may have the experience of feeling disconnected from others or difficulty knowing how you bring value to the world. If you have (or suspect you have) ADHD, you may feel overwhelmed from constantly trying to fit into a box that wasn't made for you. Together, we will explore your struggles, values, history, and strengths to cope with challenges and begin to feel more connected with yourself and those you care about.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
