Take a breath... Just s l o w d o w n for a second- You made it this far, which takes courage. Good for you. That you took the step to come looking for a therapist means that some part of you heard it when your friend said they're worried about you, or when your partner said they think it's time the two of you found someone to talk to. It means there have just been too many days where you felt like an observer in your life or like this was the day you would crack under the pressure of holding yourself together. It means you're ready to build a life that feels more rich, full, and meaningful; a life not driven by conflict or fear.

A quote I like from Oliver Wendell Holmes- "The most important thing in this world is not so much where we stand, but in what direction we are moving". Life is something to be enjoyed, not just something to struggle through! I believe that finding our happiness and fulfillment is a skill, an "ability" that lies within each of us. I believe you possess the solutions to your problems and my job is to help you discover those solutions. I have a strong orientation in Brief Solution Focused Therapy, searching with you for solutions to your problems with a very positive, time sensitive and forward looking approach.

Life is complicated. Unhelpful thoughts and experiences from the past making things more difficult than they need to be. I help people process those experiences, sort out their values and priorities, build their capacity to be compassionate with themselves, create healthy boundaries for improved relationships, and learn how to regulate their emotions. Anxiety, perfectionism, and procrastination can have less influence on your life. If you are struggling with mood issues, anxiety, life transitions, or interpersonal relationships, I would like to talk about how we could work together.

If you have hit a wall in your relationships, with your health, or are struggling with past trauma and self worth, it's time to collaborate with a caring provider who can help transform the heaviness that interferes with your sense of purpose and connection. Using your insight into yourself and my insight into psychology and wellness, we will work together to identify the patterns that perpetuate pain and stagnation, shifting you toward healing emotional wounds, and creating powerful strategies for recovery. Serious depression, anxiety, the breakdown of relationships or individual health, call for heart centered attention.

I work with people who want to reclaim the story of their lives. Some of us lost years fulfilling someone else's narrative- -but it's never too late to become yourself. You can determine the genre of story you live in, the type of protagonist you become. I try to help people navigate the excitement of infinite potential and the terror of infinite choice.

I believe trauma is not our fault, and healing from it is a choice we can make. I have experience working with childhood trauma in adults, eating disorders, anxiety, and general life transitions/stress. Maybe you've gone to therapy before and learned some coping skills but are ready to dig deeper into the roots that caused it in the first place. As a psychodynamic therapist, I aim to help you find and understand patterns in your behaviors, thoughts, emotions, and relationships. This also means I spend time exploring how your current struggles have shown up before now, particularly how they relate to your childhood.

I offer services via telehealth, and have found success with my clients in utilizing EMDR and an IFS approach to work through traumas. I also work with “late-in-life” diagnoses of Autism. As an individual who masked her autistic traits until age 30, I have a passion for helping people understand themselves and how their brain works, and accepting the whole self. Kinstsugi is a Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery. When an item has been broken or shattered it is mended with a type of glue infused with powdered gold.

I strive to create brave, affirming spaces free of shame for clients to design authentic lives and learn tools that deepen connections in relationships. I work from several evidence-based & trauma-informed therapy models and take a non-pathological approach. I draw upon several modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal Theory and EMDR. I believe that providing therapy is a privilege, and comes with responsibilities that must be respected. It is essential that clinicians are committed to doing their own inner work. Meditation, mindfulness and personal growth are at the core of everything I do. It is these practices that drove me to this field, and continue to guide me today.

I am passionate about helping clients with trauma, anxiety, & depression, & most enjoy working with clients aged 13-35. Working with those who are from more marginalized populations & concerns related to these areas (2S-LGBTQIA+ populations, women's issues, religious trauma, racism, physical health concerns/ disabilities, teen/adult children of immigrant families, etc.) is a passion of mine, but I am happy to work with those who are not part of these populations as well. FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Salt Lake City?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
