Choosing to go to therapy and finding the right therapist can be difficult. Especially when life feels overwhelming and you don’t know where to begin. Therapy is a great place to start working towards your goals and to gain support where you need it. I fell in love with being a therapist and watching a person become a healthier version of themselves, no matter what that looks like. I want to create a warm and welcoming environment for all who choose to come to therapy.

I value working together with other human beings on alleviating their distress, often through exploration of what leading an authentic, connected & balanced life could look like for them. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, relational & cultural. I practice using psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, narrative, feminist & Jungian therapies. I care to meet those that I serve where they are at, using a strength-based, collaborative perspective to help improve their overall wellbeing. I am passionate about young adult development, social justice & working with diverse individuals within their sociocultural context.

Who could you be if you were able to manage your emotions skillfully and without self-criticism? The fact that you are reading these words right now tells me you’re on the path toward discovering the answer to that question. It takes strength to seek support and I am so happy you have found yourself here. I work with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma/PTSD.

As someone who has looked for a therapist a few times, I understand how challenging and intimidating that search can feel. So, thank you for being here, and for having the strength and self-compassion to do the hardest part of therapy, and reach out for help. Whether you struggle with feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, or hopelessness, therapy can help you extend grace to yourself and recognize your intrinsic worth. You deserve a safe space to vent your frustrations, explore your authentic self, silence the painful, isolating voices of trauma, and learn new ways to cope with the mental and emotional burdens you are facing.

*** Practice Closed *** Life is complicated and messy! And life is especially hard right now. My passion is helping people create and live the life they want, getting through the mess, and healing from trauma. I have found that most of us do not go through life unscathed - we've all been hurt and we all did the best we could with what we had at the time. I love working with complex people and value the teamwork in the healing process. Together, we will help you heal and live with your whole heart.

I help couples and families feel more connected when life unfolds in unexpected ways. Feelings of disconnection often occur when stress piles up. Sometimes our lives are turned upside-down in an instant. I believe we all experience times when life feels bigger than our ability to cope.

I use methods including mindfulness, Somatic EMDR,Jungian psychology,, trauma-informed care, and attachment-based therapies to facilitate this discovery and healing process.
My practice is about creating and enhancing a meaningful life. Through a belief that our disturbances--about ourselves, others or life in general - lead us to the doorway of toward wholeness, we work together to unfold the seed of the solution from within the problems. Thus, I approach each client with a desire to follow and facilitate their unique healing process. Through deep compassion toward self, dreamwork and process work, I identify lesser conscious aspects of one's self, which we work together to bring into awareness. With this awareness one can find more meaning and a stronger purpose in life.

As a therapist, I use Interpersonal Psychotherapy and attachment-based approaches in my work.
I approach therapy with a nonjudgmental perspective and a curiosity to understand the unique experiences leading clients to therapy. I believe a strong, genuine connection and collaboration between therapist and client can not only be an opportunity to improve coping skills and process through trauma and other difficulties, but also a catalyst to improving access to experiences of joy and contentment in life. I support clients with their therapy goals whether returning or starting for the first time. Therapy is often a brave journey of exploring the parts of ourselves that we might avoid… feeling scared, sad, angry, confused.

I find that an attachment-based, developmental lens is best when working with clients.
I love working with clients (especially children, adolescents, and families!) from diverse backgrounds who are looking to find answers and solve any issues they may be struggling with. I am passionate about my work and believe in radical acceptance of all people. I am an LGBTQ+ affirmative psychologist. As a mother of five children, I understand many of the issues that families face and I strive to be a caring, upfront, and empathic psychologist who helps clients work toward achieving their goals. I also offer psychological testing.

I use a trauma-informed and attachment-based approach.
I deeply enjoy working with adults with ADHD, anxiety, and/or depression, and those who want to gain a deeper understanding of who they are. You may have the experience of feeling disconnected from others or difficulty knowing how you bring value to the world. If you have (or suspect you have) ADHD, you may feel overwhelmed from constantly trying to fit into a box that wasn't made for you. Together, we will explore your struggles, values, history, and strengths to cope with challenges and begin to feel more connected with yourself and those you care about.

I'm a feminist therapist here for the rebels & all the wonderfully anti-authority, smash-the-patriarchy people of the world. I'm radically & unapologetically body positive, sex positive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. If you’re looking for someone who is traditional, I may not be your gal. But if you’re tired of seeing healthcare providers that give you a laundry list of diagnoses & template-based, insurance-dictated treatment, maybe you can find some reprieve in my little corner of the Universe. I’m not here to fix you (you're not broken), but we can always explore & deal with the things that get in the way of you living your best life.

My goal is to help you uncover your strengths, build values-based coping strategies, and embark on a journey of personal growth. If you’re ready to find a way to better manage your distress and pain, you’ve found the right place. In this work, I've found one of the best ways to work through emotional pain is to first allow yourself to feel it. I often work to help clients change their relationship with their emotions from one of avoidance to acceptance. I work with an attachment lens, and see value in attending to emotional injuries and pain, while also exploring the influence of early experiences.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
