My passion is assisting individuals who, due to negative childhood, family, religious, societal, and/or cultural experiences learned to prioritize others' needs and hide parts of themselves to make others comfortable. My goal? To help you heal your inner child and build a harmonious connection between your brain, mind, and body.

We live in a world with set ideals and standards that weigh heavily on us pressing insurmountable expectations that we simply cannot meet. We also live with our own selves and our own minds putting the same demanding and unforgiving pressure on us. So, how might we break free into weightless grace? A jumping off point is beginning with “a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart" (Psalm 51:17). Our brokenness may range from depression, anxiety, grief, bitterness, addictions, shame, mental and emotional anguish and instability and are brought on by different variables such as trauma and attempting to shoulder this weight alone.

Having unhealed trauma can feel overwhelming and all-consuming. It can make doing basic life tasks very difficult. It can feel like a weight or shackles constantly weighing you down. You use all of your energy to just “keep it together” but you eventually break down with all-consuming memories, feelings, or even numbness. These plus many other symptoms are NORMAL for what you have experienced.

We all desire to belong, feel loved, and to know purpose. We long to feel accepted and valued. But sometimes, the way we hold our experiences can lead us to hold onto fears and limiting beliefs about ourselves. Our inner self-talk can lead us to believe lies about ourselves and the world around us. This internal dysfunction can manifest itself in anxiety, depression, anger issues, addictions, and struggles in relationships and our work life. We have over 17 years of education, training, and a lifetime of our own struggles and victories. Let us journey alongside you towards a more fulfilling life of purpose, love, joy, and peace.

At Living in Legacy Counseling we understand that life gets complicated and hard to manage on our own. We believe everyone needs community and deserves a space to be heard and valued. Our unique experiences have led to hurt and disappointment, and how we process and choose to heal from these can be defining moments. These moments where we choose to change the cycle, seek help to end generational patterns and redefine our identity are the exact moments we can change the legacy we are creating. We all leave a legacy and we believe that we can reclaim what is broken and gift future generations a legacy we are proud to hand down.

Accepting clients Apr 2024. Without judgment, I help clients overcome addictions to alcohol, weed, sex, food, and hard drugs by helping them face the very difficult triggers behind the addictions itself (such as unaddressed depression, trauma, and self esteem, etc; I particularly work with sexual addictions). This approach can be very emotionally difficult, so I recommend only clients who are ready for major life changes apply.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
