My approach is rooted in trauma-informed, attachment-based and anti-oppression frameworks.
My goal as a clinician is to create a safe space where we can work through issues that may be causing you distress, and eventually celebrate your positive growth. I may be a particularly good fit for those seeking support around interpersonal relationships, life transitions, trauma, anxiety or depression. Together, we will explore the patterns in your life that are no longer serving you. I am also a certified perinatal mental health provider and have a special interest in working with folks navigating challenges around parenthood including postpartum depression/anxiety, birth trauma, pregnancy loss and infertility.

I incorporate a variety of traditional and nontraditional modalities that includes trauma-sensitive mindfulness practices, attachment-based systems work, and cognitive-behavioral model.
I am a multicultural, holistic, trauma-informed, LGBT+ affirmative therapist and a core believer in resiliency of human spirit. Though you may consider me as the professional/expert, you are the expert of your lived experiences. I strongly believe that the client has a right to both be a recipient as well as an influencer within the therapeutic relationship. My job as a therapist is to act as guide while you are empowered to tackle both inner and outer barriers. I aim to hold a space for those who may not have access to any other arenas to feel heard and understood.

I use an integration of Attachment-based theory, EMDR, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, DBT, and Schema-Focused Therapy.
As human beings, we find ourselves in "the comfortable and familiar," and sometimes those are not effective in our lives. I believe that regardless of our differences, environments, cultures and trauma histories, we all have the same core needs; safety, belonging, love, validation, attunement and healthy attachments. With attuning to clients and experiencing my own healing journey, I am in awe of the human experience people's resilience. You already know how to cope and survive. If you want transformation and transcendence, join me and let's get to the root of the suffering.

Therapy is a process of healing the mind, body and spirit. It produces best results when both the therapist and the client are ready to engage in thoughtful discussions leading toward change. As such, clients who have seen the best results in my care have been motivated, curious and willing to address hard topics in pursuit of health. Issues related to relationships, emotional regulation, exploring past unmet emotional needs, building self-advocacy and addressing internal conflict are well suited to my therapeutic strengths. You come with the raw materials, I come with helpful questions, and together we will build a healthier life.

Note: I am transitioning to ketamine assisted psychedelic (KAP) and MDMA once that becomes available. I am a master therapist and trainer. I love exploring how people have become distorted from their true nature and lose touch with what matters most to them. The work is to help us all clear the distortions so we can return to who we are: awake, kind, free. I often practice using EMDR, Buddhist Psychology, spiritual practice, exploring the nature of satisfaction/dissatisfaction and the nature of self, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Making the choice to seek help can be extremely challenging and anxiety producing. Over the past 30 years, I have been committed and dedicated to helping individuals find positive ways to cope with a variety of stressors. We each experience life a little differently, and something that seems easy to handle for one person may be so difficult for another. Building a relationship is critical along with empowering you to dictate the areas that are most important for your growth and wellness. I strive to develop a nonjudgmental environment to help you best articulate how you are truly feeling.

In this moment, you are whole and complete. However, as we experience life, we face challenges that leave emotional wounds. As a result, we can become distorted from our true nature. This can present as many struggles such as anxiety, depression, self-doubt, difficulty setting boundaries, lack of self worth, and negative thoughts. But you are enough and you deserve to heal. The inner work is in clearing these distortions and understand the true nature of yourself and change unhealthy patterns and coping mechanisms. Together we can explore and build the necessary tools and skills that are unique to you to improve your life!

Therapy can be a transformational process of self-discovery facilitated by deeper levels of awareness and change. I believe we have an inherent ability to heal ourselves, and my primary focus is to honor and trust your experience. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life stressors can interfere with living a fulfilling life, causing problems in your life and relationships, and leaving you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, lost or numb. I believe that therapy should meet the individual where they are within their unique set of circumstances.

I have been in the mental health field for five years with a master’s in mental health counseling and, currently, obtaining my doctorate in counselor education. I have worked with a plethora of symptomatic presentations, but my specialties lie in cutting-edge practices of chronic pain and mind-body disorders, sexual disorders, and trauma/PTSD. Prior experience in domestic violence and sexual assault crisis counseling, along with community advocacy for mental health services. I view health holistically: mind, body, and spirit. I have a deep understanding of how our mind and body effect one another; overall health is my priority.

Do you feel overwhelming pain? Do you have grief that is hard to express? Have you noticed yourself reacting to situations instead of responding to them? Are you navigating challenging relationships? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, I’m here to help. With my support, you can learn how to process pain, express grief, find meaning and joy, understand how your past affects your present, and nourish your relationships with healthy boundaries. After working with me, you'll see the hard and painful parts of your life as chapters rather than the defining theme of your story.

Are you struggling to balance work, parenting/pregnancy, and staying connected to your partner? You are not alone. I work with clients to see where they can make positive changes and relieve stress. Other areas of focus are: maternal mental health (perinatal and postpartum anxiety and depression), and working with teens and young adults. I come from a mindfulness-based perspective, and have a strengths-based and Buddhist orientation. I believe that my clients - with the right support - can make meaningful changes that will improve their overall well-being and enhance their relationships.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
