Are you feeling stuck? Questioning your path? Change is hard, and not understanding the path, or having the tools or support can make the process even harder. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has a passion for facilitating change and helping people get "un-stuck." In addition to my social work degree, I completed studies at The New York School for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. I am also a certified Life Coach - focusing primarily on the generational trauma associated with alcohol abuse and identifying underlying themes and supporting healthful behavior change.

As someone who suffered from anxiety & trauma, I can tell you that I spent years looking for the right therapist & I just wanted results. I knew I had the potential to achieve so much more and create a life that I was excited about living, but I didn’t know where to start. I saw many therapists over the years & I was sick of just TALKING & re-living things over and over without seeing improvement. Finally, I met a therapist that changed my life. He introduced me to brainspotting, & IFS. I was skeptical at first but I was open minded & tried it out. I learned that trauma is stored in the body & that talk therapy doesn’t address that.

I work with people who want to be happy, feel confident, and thrive in their lives. Folks often come to see me when feeling numb, anxious, or insecure. In working together, we would focus on developing an understanding of what you'd like your life to look like, and creating a plan to make it a reality. My therapeutic approach stems from a relational framework and considers how every individual's identities and social environments shapes their beliefs, values, and experiences.

Relationships can bring us the greatest joys in life- but sometimes they cause us the deepest pain. You may feel "I'm not enough" which leads you to giving-up, giving-in, or giving too much of yourself. You may be your own worst enemy with your strong, active self-critical voice- keeping you stuck in those patterns of demanding too much of yourself and asking too little from others. You may find yourself stuck in a spiral of thoughts and emotions. We'll get to the root causes so you can show up with your best parts. If you experience relational, career, or internal dissatisfaction, long for something more and a way out, I can help.

Are the following thoughts familiar to you? "I feel so alone" "They don’t understand me" "I need help". Do you struggle with feeling not good enough or that you're failing to move forward? Whether in your romantic relationship or personally, I’m here to help you find relief. Most individuals I work with are looking to process confusing feelings. Couples I work with are often looking for support getting back on the same page; or navigating a consensual non-monogamous (open) relationship. I’m a queer woman who provides therapy to those desiring a change by actively working to change patterns they find themselves stuck in.

Are you a professional managing a career, dealing with family obligations or perhaps addressing life transitions that are causing you to feel insecure and unmanageable? I get it. There are days you feel like you’ve lost control, can't make decisions or you question your choices especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed. You may even want to give up! And that’s OK. We don’t always have the answers or the energy to do it all. The expectations that others put on us or the ones we put on ourselves, rarely gives us permission to make mistakes. When do you give yourself permission to care of YOU?

Therapy offers a transformative experience that can lead to a more satisfying and meaningful life. Starting therapy takes courage and finding a therapist who fits can be difficult. A good therapeutic relationship should feel like a safe place where all parts of you are welcome. My goal is to provide a secure and supportive environment where you feel seen, heard, and understood. I approach therapy with an open mind and a commitment to deep listening, compassion, and insightful exploration.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.
What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.
How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.
Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
