I treat individuals and couples using both short and long term treatment techniques. There is a writers' saying: 'How can I know what I think until I hear what I say?' This applies to psychotherapy as well. Talking about your problems and concerns with a trained, empathic listener is often the best way to discover both your issues and their solutions. I use a great deal of humor and compassion in my work. Psychotherapy is particularly helpful in working with relationships, career issues and ambivalence in choices.
If you are having problems with depression, anxiety, relationships, work, creative issues, or issues with being single (divorced, separated, widowed etc.) these types of concerns are particularly amenable to talk therapy. Patients find that airing things aloud, discussing difficulties and confusions they face are often a way to sort through their problems.
Psychotherapy need not be difficult and frightening. I am empathic, accessible, and use a lot of humor and compassion when working with both individuals and couples. Even divorce counseling need not be angry and reproachful.
