Part of this is understanding why and how you find yourself here. People who struggle with self esteem issues, learning to make healthy choices in their lives. It’s thrilling to watch a person find their voice, and feel good about themselves. People who struggle with addiction and alcoholism and understanding where those issues began, with sobriety. There is no shame in addiction or alcoholism in my practice.
A large part of my treatment is building a healthy relationship with my clients. We learn the importance of boundaries in relationships by setting them in our relationship. Often it is the only healthy relationship that a client may have. Do not doubt how difficult this is.
Life is difficult and often overwhelming. We race from one thing to the next with family, work and other responsibilities. Therapy/Treatment is an hour a week that you put aside for yourself. Don’t we all deserve that?
