Reaching out is often the toughest step and it is very important (and can be rewarding) to find the right fit! Each individual has their own unique story and experiences and therefore deserving of an individualized approach to therapy. The therapeutic relationship should foster one's personal journey to self exploration and growth. My goal is to help you find your best fit and support you in your personal growth, healing, and self-empowering journey. My approach is often described as supportive, warm, empowering, challenging (when you need it), and humorous.

Are you struggling with a mental health issue? Do you lack motivation, focus, and direction? Are you overwhelmed with life stressors and emotions? Are you living in the past, stuck, and unable to move forward? Do you use alcohol, drugs, gambling, sex or gaming to “cope” with life stressors? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you would benefit from counseling with an objective, nonjudgmental, and supportive therapist. Let me be that therapist for you. Life can be hard, stressful, and challenging but you do not have to navigate this trip alone.

I would like to first start with saying Congratulations to making the first step in prioritizing your mental health! It is a courageous decision to work on ourselves! Therapy can be the beginning of a life changing endeavor for many and it all begins with you. HI! My name is Erin and I, too, have made that same decision in my life to seek better understanding of myself as well as working through challenges that have gotten me “stuck” at times in my life. I share this because I feel it important for my patients to know that my own personal journey allows me to be empathetic and compassionate to patient’s needs and struggles.

Each of us have faced painful personal experiences. Pain can be due to events, interactions with others or troubled relationships. Or they can be caused by negative behavior or thought patterns that won’t stop. Sometimes we can address such troubles on their own. However, if you have been unable to resolve difficult issues alone, you may realize how they reduce the quality of your life – by establishing a pattern of emotional problems, an inability to interact productively with others, impacting your career, negatively affect relationships, or create problematic habits. But they can be addressed with help. My hours are M-F 8-4

Children deserve to have a wonderful sense of " It's good to be me!". That should carry through to adulthood, experiencing myself as empowered, loving, and many other great qualities, and able to have satisfying relationships. However, that great sense of self can be lost due to kinds of emotional and psychological wounding. This produces a loss of sense of wholeness and a resulting sense of fragmentation and all kinds of problems this fragmentation produces. My job is to help people regain their sense of wholeness and everything that goes with this and the feeling " It's good to be me".

Perhaps you are looking for a fulfilling life, but you’re struggling with feeling broken or incomplete because you aren't a mother. Maybe you’re bogged down with the weight of society's pressure to have children. You crave purpose and connection with others, but maybe you struggle to express your pain. You are tired of receiving unsolicited advice and questions about your reproductive system. This leaves you wondering: Is there life beyond motherhood?

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
