FAMILIES: blended family issues, adoption/fostercare, caregiving decisions, substance abuse concerns. INDIVIDUAL: Anxiety, substance abuse, recovery and relapse prevention, self-esteem, anger management, trauma and its aftermath, depression, relationship issues, adoption issues.

I support my clients in cultivating awareness and guide them in the healing process by drawing on innate strengths and resilience. I encourage clients to think of human beings as organisms, of body and of mind, that live in relationship with others and with our environment. As such, growth is our natural state. We are meant to grow, to act fluidly and adapt creatively throughout our lives and we suffer when that process is blocked or interrupted. However, our suffering can provide an opportunity to grow in new and exciting ways.

Born in Bronx New York, I graduated Columbia University in 1989 with an MS in Social Work and became a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist helping individuals and couples thrive. I also use DBT and ACT to create a Psychodynamic Counseling approach. If you struggle with communication in personal and work relationships I provide you with techniques to help change negative behaviors like blame and reactivity into sensitivity and compassion toward the self and others. Donnie Joseph has 27 years of experience working in social service and counseling spaces. During that time he has worked to counsel and support people during challenging times in their lives- whether in a psychiatric unit, emergency department, an outpatient substance abuse program, a long-term residential adolescent program, or a stabilization unit, Donnie considers it an honor and a privilege to stand alongside people and be a source of support during these vulnerable times.

Dr. Michele Winchester-Vega and Associates is a group private practice with over 10 LICENSED professionals that specialize in a variety of modalities and treatment specialties. Hello and welcome to my profile. By now I would assume that you've read several profiles on the "Psychology Today" site and by this point they are probably all sounding astonishingly similar. That's got to be frustrating. I hope that the following information concerning my practice doesn't have the same effect. Let me be brief: I work with a multitude of issues and problems that relate to: couples, anxiety, depression and anger management. I also work with addictions including eating disorders. My approach can help you work through unconscious conflict (repeating patterns again and again without understanding why) as well as compulsive behaviors such as drinking, thought ruminating and habitual behaviors that are difficult to control.I can help you 'evolve' out of your particular problem. I am supportive and reality based while I can always find humor in the worst and the best of times. Together we can turn this all around and get you to where you want to be.

I work primarily with individual adults, couples, families and adolescents. I have great success helping patients navigate and healthy boundaries in a relationships and to teach how to deliver respect. Issues I'm best suited to treat are depression and other mood disorders, relationships of all kinds, substance abuse, addiction and recovery. I have experience and training with human sexuality and sexual identity, I'm trained as a family therapist and work with parents to establish healthy boundaries with their children. All of this is in service of personal growth and increased happiness better living strategies.
