It can be difficult to cope with grief and loss, navigate through life transitions, and manage the aftermath of trauma. It's okay to feel anxious, overwhelmed, or depressed during these times. But know that you're not alone. You deserve to feel heard, understood, and cared for. Therapy can be a powerful tool to help you overcome these obstacles and start living the life you want to live. It takes courage to reach out for support, but it can be the first step towards a brighter future.

Therapy can serve as a safe, nurturing, and nonjudgmental space to work through challenges in your everyday life. As a 1.5 generation immigrant, I specialize in working with BIPOC folx, specifically Asian-Americans, young working professionals, and mothers in the pregnancy, prenatal and postpartum period. As a psychotherapist and music therapist, my approach is warm, supportive, and caring. I practice from an attachment-based, psychodynamic, strength-based, and trauma-focused framework utilizing a combination of CBT, DBT, parts work, as well as EMDR, and will tailor my approach based on your needs and goals in therapy.

I use an attachment-based approach with a focus on how trauma affects the brain and body.
I work with clients who have histories of trauma varying in severity. This can look like trouble with regulating and making sense of emotions. In terms of diagnoses, I often work with clients with PTSD, depression, anxiety, manic episodes, and dissociation. My clients want to regain their sense of agency. My clients become more aware of the connection between current behavioral tendencies and pivotal events from their past. My clients become comfortable feeling uncomfortable exploring issues and experiencing the emotions that arise. My ideal clients understand that progress is dependent on dedication and consistency. Very possible.

As a psychotherapist who works with individuals (16 years old and up), and couples. I believe as each client is unique so are the therapeutic techniques. Many of my clients struggle with a negative thought pattern and limiting beliefs and although a difficult and challenging process; while identifying our past we can make changes in our present that could lead to a healthier future.

Footprints was started by a therapist who realized that often times the services provided to low socio-economic communities is lacking quality care. We noticed these communities were confronted with long wait times, disrespectful admins, and subpar treatment. The one and only purpose was to exploit the community for profit without providing the level of care deserved. Footprints began from the inspiration to provide quality mental health care to the poorest of communities and treating the clients of this community the same way a rich patient would be treated in a clinic treating affluent clients.

I'm a unique therapist that treats a wide array of mental health disorders. We focus on resolving past and current issues/trauma, finding solutions and eliciting organic change. If we are not solving your problems, I am wasting your time. My practice goes far beyond talk therapy, we do work. We explore childhood, adolescent and other lifetime experiences that impact our psychological functioning. To permanently resolve our disorders we must revisit and resolve these thoughts, feelings and events. I utilize DBT as part of my treatment approach and we engage from the first minute we meet.

Welcome! I’m glad your journey has brought you here today. Do you feel like you’re hiding the real you? Do you worry that you make decisions based more on other people’s approval rather than your own sense of truth? Do you feel disconnected from yourself and your relationships? Do you desire to live your most authentic life? Maybe you don’t know what it looks like. You might even feel afraid to find out. Life can feel scary at times. And sometimes we face moments that overwhelm us, and that cause us to shut down and disconnect.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
