I strive to provide a therapeutic environment where clients feel not only safe and non-judged but also genuinely seen and heard. I believe that securing a trusting and sincere bond with my clients is of utmost importance before any real therapy can begin. I work collaboratively with clients to help them understand themselves more deeply and evoke meaning in their challenges so that they can live life more fully and authentically. Empowerment comes through connecting to your truth. I provide the support needed for clients to begin taking steps outside of their comfort zones and toward facilitating the changes that they wish to see.

Welcome! I am a deeply passionate and relatable therapist who helps women navigating perfectionism, people-pleasing, mother-daughter relationships, or body image struggles. For as long as you can remember you’ve been a natural caretaker or sensitive soul. You have always been the go to person when someone in your life needed help, or advice, but lately you feel a bit resentful, self-critical, and depleted. You want to show up with more ease and energy in your relationships but you are feeling guilty and struggling where to begin. It’s your turn, to give the care you so freely give to others, back to yourself.

Do you feel you're not enough, stuck, overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious, depressed, or simply miss understood? When facing an overwhelming emotional experience, people feel lost, isolated and alone. Therapy is a way to relieve that sense of aloneness and form a trusting, collaborative relationship with someone who accepts you the way you are. I am concerned with the overall long-term well-being of individuals, couples, and families.

Hello. I am a NY State licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience helping people find the solutions their emotional problems. I have worked with a wide range of people, from adolescents to advanced geriatrics, utilizing individual, couples, group and family sessions. I use various therapeutic approaches, such as psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral techniques, and I believe in finding the best, individual approach for each person. In this way I am not limited by a single ideology, and instead can work with the person to find what works most effectively to address his/her problem.

Do you often feel angry, confused, or misunderstood dealing with conflict in important relationships in your life? Perhaps you compare yourself unfavorably to peers and always feel like a lesser person or unworthy of self-esteem. Everyone experiences these challenges in their daily lives, but when they become chronic and you feel overwhelmed, or convinced that nothing you can do will change or make things better, I may be able to help you.

"I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions." Stephen Covey. This quote describes one of the reasons that I decided to go into this field over 15 years ago. When overwhelmed, it is easy to forget our self-worth, yet, I am a firm believer that there is value in everyone's life. In essence, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and how you get there, is the mission. I have worked with individuals who suffer from complex trauma; PTSD, Mental Health Diagnosis, Domestic Abuse, and Addictions.

I've been working for 32 years helping people develop confidence and the capabilities for personal and profession growth, and for fulfilling relationships. I'm a "Relational" psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapist and psychoanalyst but draw from CBT and solution based therapies as well. I work with individuals and couples from all walks of life and from a wide range of professions. In a safe setting I focus on self-development, communication, and emphasize finding your voice. There isn't a single therapy style for everyone. Together, with your input, I try to create a therapeutic approach suited to your individual needs.

I am a clinical psychologist with experience in providing short to medium-term treatment that is specific and goal oriented. Early in our work together we will strive to identify specific things you want to change in your life, so we can evaluate along the way whether our strategies are working or need to be tweaked. I also believe it is important to remain flexible and allow space in therapy for exploration, as we might not be fully aware of how certain things affect our lives at the beginning of therapy. You can learn more about me and my practice at www.pacsnyc.com.

Hi, my name is Anna. I work with pre-teens, teens, and adults to find joy and playfulness, even amidst severe circumstances. I help my clients recognize their unconditional worth, to find their voices, and to validate their rich inner lives. My years of experience supporting families and children with acute and or chronic illness in inpatient pediatrics has greatly informed my approach to therapy in private practice. I see each person as having a unique story to tell, and meaning to made from all of their life experiences. Engaging creatively with these experiences can be incredibly healing, empowering, and beautiful.

I welcome patients from a broad range of social, economic, and cultural backgrounds and work with issues such as anxiety and body-mediated distress to addiction, mourning, melancholia, and existential quandaries including those regarding work, intimacy and sex. With a background in Freudian and Lacanian theory—as well as literature and art—I find therapy most productive and illuminating when it explores not only a person's conscious interests and challenges but their unconscious thoughts as well.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
