I primarily serve parents, couples, individuals (16+), & families utilizing attachment-based approaches (EFT, EFIT, EFFT) combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy & Acceptance Commitment Therapy strategies.
Sometimes life gets the best of us, and we find ourselves lacking the meaning and fulfilment in life we deeply desire. The pain that is real and upsetting may be within yourself or within other relationships. Additionally, you may find you lose yourself in the daunting role as a caregiver of a child, a spouse, a parent, or a friend. You deserve to be seen, heard, and understood, with unconditional positive regard to get support and healing that align with your values toward a life of meaning and fulfilment and that considers the uniqueness of your story.

My goal as a counselor is to help you feel comfortable to face life's challenges, no matter the circumstances. Therapy can feel like a leap of faith, and I'm here to help create safety. Through this process, you can search for your truest self and honest desires without ever feeling like you're alone. For better or for worse, we live within our own world where we are the center and the focus. Therapy can be difficult. I also believe it can be connective, creative, insightful, and foster immense healing. And the hardest part can be reaching out.

I believe as human beings we have infinite wisdom within us. A lot of the pain in our lives is caused by not knowing of, trusting in, or being in alignment with this inner wisdom. Through therapy, I can help you recognize its presence and turn towards it so you can be in alliance with yourself, and come into your personal power.

Accepting new clients! I believe that healing comes from a holistic approach that considers mind, body, and spirit. I focus on a collaborative relationship where we prioritize safety and trust. A metaphor that helps to encapsulate this process is that you have the map and I have the flashlight. By understanding and connecting to our internal world we are better equipped to make decisions about our external world.

Many people experience a sense of dis-ease in their everyday lives, in other words a lack of ease stemming from depression, anxiety, being easily triggered or even having a hard time feeling in general. I will work with you to build the connections you need with yourself and the external world to live a more fulfilling life. Some of the most unbearable parts of the human experience become bearable when someone can go to that place in the psyche with you.

My goal is to provide space and empathy for your life. My experience has been built in transitions including grief, chronic illness, aging, caregiving stress, and end-of-life. I feel strongly that each client is their own expert to their own journey and that my role as a therapist is to meet the client where they are at in that story and establish a safe relationship of listening without judgement. I also have worked with adolescents and adults dealing with depression, anxiety and other adjustment-based needs.

Our human brains are fascinating in what they allow us to accomplish, but sometimes they can be our own worst enemy! Overwhelming emotions and unhelpful thoughts can interfere with our lives and cause significant distress. I created my practice to help people "be okay when things are not okay." This is done using a person-centered dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT) approach to help you gain insight into yourself while providing you with the tools and encouragement to thrive instead of just survive. I want you to leave each session feeling validated and more confident in your ability to cope with life's challenges!

People are my passion. After working in the mental health field for the last 15 years, I have learned that everyone has a unique story and circumstances. I love working with clients to embrace this and work through roadblocks that stand in the way of a fulfilled life. Through evidence based practices you have the ability to change and be the best version of you. Needless to say, life is hard.

In life we encounter experiences that conceal our potential to flourish or succeed and this can make us feel stuck or helpless in a sense of suffering, struggling to get by. These blocks can come in many forms: traumatic experiences, negative messages we receive, illness, relationship patterns, grief, depression, anxiety, among others. Together we can work to find the root of the issue and find healing. I work to serve as a mirror to my clients, reflecting insights about patterns, internal dialog, and behaviors that are hard to "see".

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
