As humans, we were not meant to walk through life alone. Oftentimes when we face the hurt and deep wounds we have incurred over time, we find ourselves feeling disconnected, isolated, and hopeless. More than anything, what we need is the help of others who will delve into these sacred places with us and help us navigate through the uncertainty and emotions that we hold beneath the surface. As your therapist and guide, I am here to help carry these burdens with you so you can walk in emotional freedom and heal from the root of the pain.

Let me support you individually (your child/ teen), with your partner(s), or as a family as you heal and grow. Life presents us with ongoing challenges; relationships, careers, families, raising children, medical issues, trauma, grief. These can add up to emotional stressors with behavioral reactions making it difficult to function as people in our various relationships and settings. When we become unaware of our emotional state and ignore self-care, emotionally, physically, spiritually, we may become stuck and are unable to function at a level that is our best selves. I will meet you, your child, or your family where you're at.

You may be saying to yourself: "I feel stuck. I feel disengaged. The problems seem insurmountable. When I attempt conversation about difficult issues they invariably turn to gridlock. Hurtful words are used by both of us. Withdrawal, isolation and silence follow. It seems we have a crisis over something. Then we have a brief honeymoon followed by a period of tension leading to another explosion. Seems like it never ends. Seems my efforts to engage are met with distancing by my spouse. I feel more and more disconnected, more helpless and hopeless about this relationship."

The world we live in is not easy. Life is not easy, it can be very hard. What is easy, is to feel lost and unheard, to feel unloved and not enough. You are never too much, and always enough. I'm here to listen to you and your truth; You are the expert in your own experiences. I want to be on this path of self discovery and help with any past, present, and future challenges/experiences. I'd hope to create a safe and welcoming space on this journey for you. This first step is the hardest part.

My area of focus and specialty has been with adolescents. Through working with teens I inevitably work with their parents and I'm comfortable working with adults as well on their own issues. I can also be a guiding hand to help them improve their parenting skills with a Love and Logic approach. I'm experienced with complicated family systems and truly believe that creating change for a teen requires work from the entire family to help support that change. Teens are malleable and are very capable of change if given the proper support.

I've noticed a trend in our culture today where we often focus on the differences between people, but in reality we have a lot more in common. We are all going through life experiencing similar struggles with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, compariness, loneliness, etc. We also share so many life experiences and transitions with one another whether it's going through starting a career, marriage, divorce, parenthood, aging, losing a loved one, or having relationship difficulties, we can all relate and connect. Oftentimes though, we need additional support through these transitions.

It is the call of my soul to help individuals remember their value and learn to navigate life as the empowered people they were meant to be. Our sense of self is shaped by our experience and when we lack support or encounter traumatic situations, our self-concept may distort. I will be your greatest champion as we work together to reframe such distortions, enabling you to embody your authentic self. The truth is that within each of us lies a power beyond measure. I want to walk beside you as that power blossoms. Together, we will call forth the strength within you.

I specialize in treating adult women with complex trauma/CPTSD with a focus on developmental trauma. Most of my client’s have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences, such as family dysfunction, abuse or neglect, or what I refer to as deep, impactful experiences from childhood to adolescence. My clients are well-functioning, but the secondary issues from their unresolved/unhealed pasts show up as depression, anxiety, avoidance and relational difficulties, causing a feeling of "stuckness" despite "knowing better". I am an neurobiology-informed experiential therapist, utilizing “bottom-up”, holistic approaches.

Childhood trauma often times comes with a feeling of deep shame, which turns into a core belief that you are bad, undeserving and unworthy of anything good. Shame comes from an old German word meaning “to cover.” You hide your feelings, keeping them secret. Because—if they really knew who you were, they couldn’t love you. You spend your life trying so hard to cover up the bad so no one will see. In doing this you lose your authenticity, your truth, your dreams. You become someone you are not. You lose your light. Working through trauma is hard, it takes courage, dedication and patience, but it is worth it. You are worth it.

There’s an idea by Carl Rogers - unconditional positive regard- which means “accepting and respecting others as they are without judgment”. That’s what you deserve and that’s what I hope to offer to you. I’d like to provide a secure and welcoming space as you begin, or continue, your mental health journey. You've come this far. You're reading this because you're curious, and maybe there's a part of you that is ready to start your healing journey.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Kalispell?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
