I have experience with a broad range of issues and encourage an honest, relationship-based approach to therapy. We work together to explore the issues most important to you. I believe that everyone is capable of change, though easy to say, it is very challenging to put into action. Therapy can create a safe space to reflect upon your world and history. It is a mindful process to accept and redefine yourself. It is a space to look at what parts are activated in your life and which parts feel quiet.

We all deserve to feel aligned, safe and nurtured. Cultivating compassionate self-awareness and acceptance, are at the core of healing, change and growth. When we feel healthy and fulfilled we are more likely to live with meaning. I utilize an integrative lens, centered in mindfulness, somatic, attachment and IFS orientations to promote increased consciousness of thoughts, values, feelings, and behavior patterns. My approach is intuitive, and warm. Our work together involves expanding awareness of the inner mind, and felt senses to move towards a more integrated self. I am tele health only at this time. Serving Oregon and Montana.

Hi my name is Lida Running Crane and I have recently transitioned to private practice after being a clinician at a local agency working primarily with our local urban Indigenous community for just short of nine years. I subsequently co-founded Aitapissko Counseling Collective LLC, the shared professional home in which my colleagues and I continue to offer quality mental health and addiction counseling to our local community. I earned my masters in counseling from the University of Montana in 2016 with my NCC, became an LCPC in 2018, and an LAC in 2020.

You already have, and can unlock, everything you need to live a fulfilling and purposeful life. My philosophy is that the person/people sitting across from me come with primary expertise, experience and wisdom. Each one is a specialist in their own self and their own life, and comes with inherent worth, value and dignity. My priority is to be fully present and aware in order to build trusting relationships, deeply understand, reflect each person's insights/solutions, and offer hope in other possibilities. It's an honor to be a partner and consultant in the process of uncovering hidden resources.

My approach is client-driven and integrative. I start with assessing developmental history, losses and trauma, and behavioral health issues. I then clarify with the client how I can assist them with their identified goals.

Currently Accepting New Clients. Life is the journey we take to find ourselves in a search for meaning and purpose. As the roads of life are traveled it is easy to become disoriented, lost, or overwhelmed. Healing can happen when we are able to find our way and reconnect with ourselves and others. I believe this is a collaborative process that is most effectively done through connection and developed awareness. My goal is to help you build a diverse collection of skills to make your journey what you want it to be.

Ever think: "How did I end up here?" or "I never imagined {life event} would happen to me!" You are not alone! We can all relate to these sentiments. Most people do not end up in therapy because circumstances are unicorns and rainbows. Are you struggling with loss, or making meaning out of events that have left you feeling uncertain, shaken, in agony? Do you feel like you are starring in a scene from the film Ground Hog Day, where life is a series of frustrating, repeating events? You can make a successful transition to break this cycle, whatever that personal change is. You will get a sense of control back. A little Zen. Some hope.

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
