Every relationship at some point experiences hardship and difficulty. It takes a lot of effort and energy to make a relationship succeed and stay close connected and intimate. Sometimes, it can be very difficult to find the energy, the will, or the motivation to truly give your heart to your partner. Whenever there is brokenness, my goal is to take those broken parts and bring them back together to make a whole relationship again.

With several years of personal and professional experience working with recovery from pornography and problematic sexual behavior, I utilize a trauma-informed approach to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, and process addictions. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services from Evangel University, and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri State University.

We all encounter daily life in different ways and as a therapist my job is to see your world and understand it the best I can. I hope to meet you where you are and move forward with you on your journey of healing and exploration. Everyone deserves to be heard while working through the challenges that life throws at them. My role as a therapist is to guide and facilitate the healing process of my clients as they return home to themselves. This “coming home” process involves attuning to our bodies as we befriend the wounded or exiled parts of our psyche, welcoming them back to the table and listening to what they have to say.

My reason for being a counselor is to help people understand and heal from their past and/or current pain and to learn coping strategies to manage future pain. People and relationships can be complex and full of both positive and negative emotions, including some that are painful. The ability to feel them, learn from them, and express them to others allows us to live more engaged and meaningful lives. It is rewarding to be able to support people as they go through the process of self-exploration.

My clients are successful professionals who have areas in their lives that they feel have become chaotic, due to addiction, abuse, and trauma. I believe that there is currently a large population of highly successful professionals who are struggling with these issues in an unhealthy way, such as watching pornography or sex. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) specializing in sex/porn addictions, multiple addictions, trauma, abuse, and PTSD.

I am the owner of the Robert Jason Grant Ed.D AutPlay Therapy Clinic. I am the creator of AutPlay Therapy. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families dealing with a variety of mental health needs. Some of my specializations include addressing the needs of neurodivergent children, adolescents, and adults (autism, ADHD, trauma issues, and anxiety and depression struggles). I am neurodiversity affirming and informed and provide individual, family, and group therapy. I provide in-office and telehealth services. I also offer parent training, coaching services, and various trainings for professionals and caregivers.

Pursuing Peace is a non-profit that exist to help people find quality mental health treatment available to help clients deal with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, & intimacy related issues. I have worked in social work and ministry as well as tradition therapy, and all these have helped me grow and learn how to better serve my clients. It has been my experience that collaborating with clients to help facilitate healing and growth is empowering and transformative for them. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and peace-filled life and look forward to walking beside you on that journey.

I believe that all individuals will encounter a time in their lives when they will be facing some form of hardship, conflict, or distress. The ability for someone to recognize that they cannot go it alone and need a partner to assist them in navigating life situations is where I come into play. I believe that individuals can make the changes necessary in their lives with the proper supports and skills provided through counseling. Individuals who are ready to put in the work needed to navigate this life are the ones who will succeed.

My primary focus is serving: 1) Clients who are wanting to reprocess their traumatic memories utilizing EMDR, 2) Gay and lesbian identified clients, 3) Gender diverse clients (i.e. transgender, gender-fluid, genderqueer, gender-nonconforming, gender non-binary, etc), 4) Individuals who are exploring their sexual and/or gender identities, and 5) Clients who are exploring and/or deconstructing their religious identities.
