Since 2012 I have been working with adolescents and young adults navigating various different struggles of their life. Together, with their families (when appropriate) we work to develop a plan and a path towards health and healing. It isn't always easy, in fact it’s often counterintuitive and confusing. Healing isn't linear, but what I can offer is a chance to communicate better, connect, and return your home to a peaceful place. Whether you are struggling with relationships, yourself, school or work, I am ready to help you navigate whatever it is that is going on in your mind, and move you towards a more meaningful life.

Hi! I'm Darla, and I am glad that we are going to embark on this journey together. It's important to feel connected to your therapist. I believe that sometimes we are all in need of additional support and assistance to navigate through difficult life situations that may seem overwhelming and debilitating. I am here to assist you and respectfully walk beside you while also honoring your autonomy. I participate in AAT- Animal Assisted Therapy. I have 4 bengal therapy cats that come in on rotation. They are great for regulating the nervous system.

I work with individuals with a wide range of concerns. My clinical specialties and interests include disordered eating, body image, obesity and weight loss, LGBTQ, gender identity, phase of life transitions, grief/loss, relationships, assertive communication, issues related to trauma/adverse life experiences, holistic health and wellness, self-compassion, and promoting self-awareness and insight. My background includes significant experience in the delivery of behavioral health care including individual psychotherapy and inpatient, intensive-outpatient, and outpatient groups. In addition to my experience with psychotherapy services, I also complete psychological assessments, provide supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns, and consultation services.

My approach to counseling is one of helping my clients understand themselves better so that they can face life's difficulties with confidence.

I specialize in trauma, specifically childhood abuse and neglect. Working with all ages from young child to adult. I also have a great deal of experience helping individuals with symptoms of depression and anxiety.

With several years of personal and professional experience working with recovery from pornography and problematic sexual behavior, I utilize a trauma-informed approach to treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, and process addictions. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services from Evangel University, and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri State University.

The ideal client is anyone who is willing to come to therapy. With a strengths-based, trauma-focused, and client-centered approach, I can work with nearly any individual, couple, family, or group.

PTSD is not always easily talked about and often masked by other symptoms. Do you startle easily? Unable to sleep through the night? Having nightmares? These are symptoms of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder after experiencing domestic violence, workforce harassment, tragic event, death of a family member or friend, natural disaster such as tornado, flood or fire. PTSD can be a vicious cycle of triggers, anxiety, panic attack, tiredness, unable to sleep, nightmares, ruminating thoughts, having conditions that you can't escape. I provide understanding, finding the triggering event and work through the event to find peace again.

First year social work students are always asked what their preferred population or job is when they graduate. Although most therapist do not know what they want to do for years, I knew right away that I wanted to work with children and their families. I am specifically passionate about children and families that have been affected by the foster care system. Research proves that what happens in childhood affects us all as adults. Although therapy does not magically make trauma go away, I want to help reduce the level of disturbance that trauma causes children so that they can be the best version of themselves as an adult.

Beyond Healing Center is a therapy group committed to helping people find safety in connection through embodied healing practices. We practice an interdisciplinary health care approach that invites healers from various disciplines to join together under a shared language and conceptualization approach where interventions can be thoughtfully co-discovered and contextualized in the therapeutic journey. Our team is constantly growing which brings rich new disciplines to the treatment setting including psychotherapy, movement and yoga, massage, art, and physical wellness.

All humans experience various transitional times during their lives. Therefore, the ideal client is one who is struggling with relationship problems, anger, addictions (sexual or chemical), poor stress control, depression, or anxiety-I provide a safe environment where the individual's pain and/or struggle is met with understanding alongside a plan of action to address the issue(s).

Life can be so hard, especially when we carry traumatic memories, cultural and generational burdens, or chronic stress. I believe, from the depth of my being, that we are all doing our very best with our current resources. I'm here to support your healing and help you reclaim the power over your suffering. My services are entirely through telehealth, and I provide a warm but real environment over my telehealth platform. I provide support to adults of all ages!

I believe that our past experiences and relationships play a major role in how we experience our lives in the present. Sometimes these experiences were painful or left our bodies feeling unsafe and hold us back from living the life we want. As a therapist at Beyond Healing, I hope to be present with my clients in a way that allows them to explore the deep parts of themselves they might have lost or forgotten. I believe that through the work and the healing, we can build a life for ourselves we are excited for.

I truly believe that all people want to and deserve to feel good and be happy. Much of our lives are spent trying to achieve these goals yet we continue to feel disappointed and like something is missing. I work with issues such as anxiety, depression, conflict in relationships, difficulty with emotions, trauma, shame, or even a general sense of hopelessness or discontentment in life. My hope in therapy is to come alongside you and make sense of what you are feeling and/or experiencing while working toward healing and wholeness in yourself and your relationships.

It is my passion to teach self-love, acceptance, relaxation techniques, and empowerment to women, couples, and families.
