My clients are successful professionals who have areas in their lives that they feel have become chaotic, due to addiction, abuse, and trauma. I believe that there is currently a large population of highly successful professionals who are struggling with these issues in an unhealthy way, such as watching pornography or sex. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) specializing in sex/porn addictions, multiple addictions, trauma, abuse, and PTSD.

In the journey of life, we all encounter moments of change and loss that can leave us feeling adrift in a sea of uncertainty. My specialties lie in providing a guiding light during these times of change, helping individuals find solace and hope in the midst of their deepest disappointments.

My experience with helping individuals and families overcome difficult challenges is my passion. I believe that it easier to find and build upon one's strengths than it is to focus primarily on fixing problems. Much of my time in therapy is spent on discovering creative solutions rather than talking too long just about what is wrong. I help adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, family issues and trauma regain balance and hope in their lives through the use of verbal and creative expression.

My ideal client is someone looking for a significant change in their life. They may struggle with past hurts, shame, isolation, trauma, low self image, resentment, self-hatred, depression, or anxiety. They need someone to listen and to provide a safe place free of judgement where they will be heard. Their goals might include finding freedom, seeing their situation in a new light, gaining hope, finding their voice, or integrating their life experience and their spirituality.

We all go through difficult times at different parts of our life. It can help to have someone to talk to. I have particular experience with adults in midlife crisis, couples counseling, and adolescents experiencing, school problems, behavior problems, parent/child conflict, and trauma. I have experience with individual therapy, parent/child conflict, divorce, alternative relationships and LGBTQIA issues. I specialize in trauma treatment for all age groups. I look forward to working with clients whose life path may have created difficulties for them that has led them not be the best of who they can be. Each individual's path may have been sprinkled with physical or emotional abuse, neglect, assault, grief and loss, domestic violence, marital or parental discord or a myriad of other situations. Sometimes these life paths create in my clients a feeling of hopeless and loss of self-worth, sometimes these path end with someone needing to determine a plan to leave an unsafe living situation. Sometimes these paths lead to turning to substances and illegal drugs to cope with the internal turmoil and pain. It is my privlege to work with clients to help them identify and bring forth the best of who they are and what they want for their life, their family and their future through their own individual strengths.

In my ten years as a counselor, it's been my privilege to care for men, teens, and couples wrestling with depression, stress, and anxiety; addiction (drugs and alcohol; gambling; sexual...); the grief involved with divorce; the struggles associated with life's transitions; difficulties in school and relationships; and family conflict. My hope is that the men and women I talk to would be able to experience intimacy in their relationships, fullness of life, and find success in their daily lives.

We are Christian centered and use a variety of research-based therapeutic methods of counseling to find what works best for our clients. I believe therapy should be started with the end in mind, so our goal is to bring about peace and balance in a timely manner.

I work with individuals, couples, and families in helping them achieve control over "emotional hijacking" and poor decision making. Feelings like fear, sorrow, anger, rejection prevent people from experiencing connectedness with life and with others. Therefore, the ideal client is one who is struggling with relationship problems, anger, addictions (sexual or chemical), poor stress control, depression, or anxiety-I provide a safe environment where the individual's pain and/or struggle is met with understanding alongside a plan of action to address the issue(s).

Roian Baalman became a therapist because she has been right where you are. Roian takes a holistic approach to therapy and meets her clients where they are. She is highly educated and passionate about helping others find the answers they seek and the healing, joy, and happiness they deserve. She is licensed in Missouri and Texas.

I have learned that no one is immune to mental health stress, trauma, OR substance abuse. Most really can find recovery and wellness. In 2000, I began my career providing counseling services in a treatment center and have continued to specialize in coping methods vs. "using." Relationships are sacred. I work with all arrangements of families (CNM & polyamory). Expert family/couples counseling requires expert training. The Gottman Method is taught in three levels and I completed all three in 2017. My intensive couples approach is successful in improving communication and provides many tools and results in a reasonable time frame.

I work with individuals with a wide range of concerns. My clinical specialties and interests include disordered eating, body image, obesity and weight loss, LGBTQ, gender identity, phase of life transitions, grief/loss, relationships, assertive communication, issues related to trauma/adverse life experiences, holistic health and wellness, self-compassion, and promoting self-awareness and insight. My background includes significant experience in the delivery of behavioral health care including individual psychotherapy and inpatient, intensive-outpatient, and outpatient groups. In addition to my experience with psychotherapy services, I also complete psychological assessments, provide supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns, and consultation services.
