I am an Addictions Specialist with with 20+ years of professional experience in both NYC and Maine - in addition to personal experience with addiction and long term recovery.. most important factor when pursuing counseling is to find a "therapeutic alliance" that fits. I always recommend that clients consult with a few providers before choosing. Once a trusting alliance is established, I embark on a journey alongside my clients, which can be brief and solution-focused or longer term weekly sessions and ongoing support.
My style is compassionate, directive and my clients begin to understand their "inner critic" and how to use it as a tool. Together we explore distorted thinking and I teach ways to unlearn the negative patterns. Basic mindfulness is practiced, which teaches clients to refocus away from the shame of the past and "future-tripping."
My primary goal with all clients is to ultimately encourage participation in one of my groups in conjunction with one on one. The growth and healing available in a circle of trust is transformational in all life areas. Through compassionate listening & vulnerable sharing, participants discover intimate human connections that lead to a fulfilling life.

These ongoing weekly groups (age 18-30) provide a safe (currently online) space to explore relationship dynamics. Through empathic listening, vulnerable sharing and rigorous honesty, members start to experience a shift in the circle- and their lives. Sharing perspectives with each other breaks the maladaptive internal dialogue and offers hope. Being in relationship with family members, peers, and romantic partners inevitably bring up a variety of emotions and attachment triggers. This is a space for women to heal old wounds through healthy connection and feel more empowered to establish fulfilling relationships in their lives.
