You work hard to keep it all together on the outside, so people don't see that inside you often feel shaky and exhausted. It's true you've achieved a lot in your life, but that doesn't stop you from feeling you don't belong, aren't enough. It may feel like anxiety, co-dependency, and low self-esteem have been a part of your life for as long as you can remember. One thing is sure: you’re ready for relief. You’re ready to connect with a sense of ease and self-love so you can enjoy the success you've earned. You're ready to let your whole messy, complicated, beautiful self be known and loved in close, lasting relationships. I can help!

Currently only accepting clients interested in short-term intensive EMDR therapy. In a busy, overwhelming, too-much world we all need to find ways to care for ourselves. Reaching out for therapy can be a way to carve out some space to nourish and connect to yourself. Maybe you're here because you feel overwhelmed and anxious. You know you have deep wisdom inside but the overwhelm is making it hard to access it. Perhaps there is self-judgment for feeling “too sensitive”. You’re doing big things yet you still feel small. You long to feel calm, centered, and connected. My grounded, intuitive, and collaborative approach can help!

I believe we're all naturally inclined toward growth and success—each with our own strengths, desires, and goals that would lead us in the direction of contentment and happiness under optimal conditions. But we don’t live in a perfect world, and in an effort to adapt, we sometimes develop strategies that make sense in the short term, but aren't, in a lasting way, effective in moving us forward. We get stuck, leading to anxiety, frustration, and conflict, which leads in turn to us feeling bad about ourselves and our relationships.

Pornography addiction can significantly impact your life and relationships but there is hope for recovery. I’m not just a mental health professional, I’ve been “you” for many years. I understand firsthand the personal struggles in your life and committed relationships that come with uncontrollable pornography use. The endless stream of attractive women a few clicks away on Pornhub, Onlyfan or Social Media is hard to quit even with all your willpower and promise to quit for the sake of your relationship

Life gets hard at times with increasing demands and a finite amount of resources. As creatures of habit, we tend to get stuck in what seems like a never-ending cycle. My clients come to me with a desire for REAL change. They may be managing long-standing mental health problems and/or new and chronic medical conditions. They also seek to improve their relationships and find out what makes their life worth living. In the end, my clients appreciate introspection and understanding the past, but believe that actual concrete change is needed.

Have you ever wanted a drag queen as a therapist? Well you've come to the right place. In my spare time from working at as a therapist, I'm a drag queen, so I'm not afraid to call you out. I want sessions to be fun, while also helpful. Once we have a relationship built, I will happily call out patterns that I see, that haven't been working. Our community faces barriers that our cis het counterparts don't - systemic barriers, dysphoria, feeling outcast (even in our own community). We will work on how to reduce the emotional impact these have on you, which often starts with setting a goal of putting yourself first.

Hi there! I provide therapy for couples and adult individuals. I specialize in relationship, attachment and parenting issues and perinatal mental health. My clients are curious about unhelpful patterns that seem to keep showing up in their life and relationships. Many times they are putting others before themselves, have trouble trusting, feel guilty about setting boundaries or have trouble communicating their needs AND getting them met. Together, we work to understand the “why’s” and then we continue our work to implement new skills and strategies to either break out of those cycles or find ways to work them in your favor.

I have experience working with and treating all types of addiction, including both substance and behavioral addictions. I also have considerable experience with and understanding of mental illnesses, including especially depressive, anxiety, and bipolar disorders. I tend to have the most success treating those for whom other approaches have not been effective. My approach is best fitted for those who feel utterly broken and desperate for change.

My practice is centered on the healing and development of the most important relationships in our lives. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to work with couples seeking healing within their relationship or to improve their intimacy. My individual adult clients seek a safe space to process inner conflicts, understand the dimensions of their being, and feel seen and heard. Pain in itself can help us see what we need and uncover ways of knowing ourselves better, to make changes that lead to growth. To me, therapy is about exploring feelings, thoughts, and emotions and feeling safe at the same time. I am a safe co-explorer.

I am a big believer that, when we are able to feel more at peace with ourselves, we find greater joy in life. The journey to feeling peaceful and satisfied is not always smooth–it can feel so personal that we may avoid talking about the “bumps” with our loved ones. Talking with (and thinking together with) someone who is objective & private can be so useful. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with over seven years of clinical experience. I have worked with patients who have felt down, worried about every day stressors, dealt with burnout, struggled with a work/life balance, and wanted to find more satisfaction out of life.

I am a therapist with many years of experience working both in telehealth and in-person and recognize that these trying times are easier to handle with someone traveling alongside you. I have experience with a variety of psychological challenges that include depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance-use, and life transitions. I have experience working with people of differing ethnic and racial groups and among those who identify as LGBTQ+. I also speak Spanish. I primarily use trauma-informed and skills-based approaches that include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based care.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Boston?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
