I have experience working with adults in recovery from substance use. I have found a deep affinity with the recovery community and feel honored to do that work. I also have years of experience working with youth in different capacities. My thesis in grad school focused on the intersection between Neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ identities and how this intersection can inform a framework of Belonging as embodied praxis.

Humans are wacky, beautiful, awesome, creative, remarkable beings. When we have anchors within and outside of ourselves for safety, we can explore possibilities, feel organized and competent, and speak our minds and hearts. There are many forces that can inhibit our vitality. Sometimes, it can be hard to access feelings of curiosity, interest, motivation, connection, or being ourselves. But under the layers of what gets in our way, each of us is already here, already whole.

In life we all need hope, validation, just to know that today, "this too shall pass." I strive to connect with individuals with honesty, warmth, and empathy. When one makes that decision to seek emotional guidance, I understand the vulnerability and the bravery of that moment. While allowing one to take the time they need to reach their desires of the heart and/or identify what one desires through a space of compassion and mindfulness.

I’m a psychotherapist and EMDR Practitioner based in Philadelphia. I help adults from all over the US heal from trauma using talk therapy, EMDR therapy and healing intensives. If you’ve experienced trauma, you’ll know just how much hold it can have over your life. Daily flashbacks, isolation, anxiety, nervousness, nightmares, and insomnia can bring life to a halt. Using EMDR, I've seen amazing results with my clients.

We are living in unprecedented times filled with great challenge and incredible opportunity for growth. Global and personal events can leave us feeling isolated, disconnected, anxious and depressed. We search for meaning and purpose amidst the overwhelm of loss, transition, disease and chronic pain. Yet, this chaos can be the grit that moves us toward greater awareness and freedom. Support, connection, compassion and skilled guidance can help us forge new pathways in our lives, our brains and our bodies. We then have more capacity to reclaim our inherent joy, creativity and the power to build a positive light-filled future.

Accepting new in-person patients - I consider the overlapping experiences of self, authenticity, identity, regulation, and relationships as central to therapy and the ways in which we make sense of ourselves and others in the world. I work with patients in an empathic, challenging, supportive and relational way toward life changes, as well as to discover coping skills tailored to their particular needs and experiences. I work from a relational, psychoanalytic, psychodynamic and attachment perspective of the whole person.

I view therapy as a creative, collaborative process that facilitates both change and self-acceptance. As a therapist, I create a curious, nonjudgmental space in which we can jointly explore your past and present experience. Our work aims at a deeper understanding of the circumstances that led you to therapy--perhaps painful ways of relating to yourself, to others, or to work. We will work toward helping you grow beyond the patterns or obstacles that have felt limiting so far--and toward helping you realize a more spacious, hopeful, and fulfilling experience of yourself and relationships.

I believe that the journey toward becoming authentically oneself is among the most important work we do. My practice focuses on creating space in which transformation is possible and old patterns can shift into something that allows for growth and possibility. Putting language to complex internal experiences, forging connections, and examining clearly and without shame or judgment the places where stuckness happens are often crucial parts of this process. I work with clients to explore all aspects of identity, focusing on gender and identity development but also intersections of experiences of anxiety, depression, trauma, and dysregulation of mood.

Clients and myself are on a journey, to explore and notice the things that bubble up, the things that stay stuck beneath, the parts of themselves that enter the therapy room: the grieving parts, the sad and scared parts, the joyful ones. I work with clients who are seeking for meaning and understanding in their responses to the relationships in their lives: those with family, with partners, with spirituality, with creativity, with work and life's purpose, and beyond.

Awakened Transformation Using Energy Psychology- I am thrilled to provide an alternative approach to the traditional route of therapy! Many of my clients are those who do not want to be put on medication, if they can avoid doing so, as well as wanting to get to the root of their issues rather than putting a band-aid on symptoms. People want to understand WHY. Using mind-body-spirit approaches to the healing journey, I investigate your symptoms using holistic tools & assessment, conversation, and teaching you how to listen to your intuition. Your body is speaking to you, and I will help you learn how to work with it to feel better!

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
