I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both Louisiana and New Jersey and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with over a decade of experience providing mental health counseling. I see the counseling relationship as a relationship involving openness, trust, and respect on both the part of the counselor and client. It is a professional helping relationship in which the counselor assists the individual in achieving personal growth, self-awareness, and emotional regulation.

You've worked hard over the years to build a successful career, happy marriage, and satisfying relationships, but once again you find yourself engulfed in conflict. What should you expect from your counselor? Facilitator of change? Shoulder to cry on? Empathetic active listening? Custodian of mental health wisdom? Regardless of the names they carry, a counselor that you can trust, confide in, and relate to is a paramount necessity to an exceptional therapeutic relationship. By understanding our current experiences, and how they interact with our past, we can find ways to make change in our lives so that we may obtain our goal of living more empowered lives.

I work primarily with issues of depression, anxiety, child abuse, neglect, grief, and trauma. Helping someone through difficult issues is a collaboration between therapist and client. It takes courage to show up for therapy and trust someone to help! I practiced and taught meditation as a means for recovering from trauma for 30 years before becoming a therapist. Meditation develops a stronger, calmer mind, but doesn't completely clear psychological issues, unless you've the luxury of years of intense practice. For faster results than talk therapy or meditation alone, I integrate them to build self-awareness and stability.
