I work with individuals on both a short-term and long-term basis, and draw from a variety of theories and approaches including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, existential and attachment-based therapies.
I specialize in working with adults who have trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and relationship issues. Often when we experience difficult life events, we hold our upsetting memories vividly in our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and even in our bodies. We revisit the painful past again and again, stuck in negativity and unable to simply talk our way out of the distress. I help my clients to access and process, at a deeper level, these experiences, using effective, evidence-based modalities that work. We clear out the painful past to make room for the joyful, fulfilled, self-actualized life they yearn for and deserve.

My work is attachment-based and trauma-informed.
Accepting new clients. I believe therapy is a collaborative process between the two of us. Our work together will help you live a meaningful and purposeful life, feel safe in your body, understand your behavioral and attachment patterns, and heal from relational trauma. Our earliest relationships inform the way we respond to situations past and present. As adults, we may notice some of these patterns are more harmful than helpful. Through this framework, I incorporate acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), and body-based approaches into our work together.

I utilize a trauma-informed lens, with an attachment-based, systemic, and person-centered framework, while integrating somatic or narrative techniques.
Some stories are just too hard for us to tell on our own and some will cause us pain just because we are still stuck in the middle of it. Stories can cause us to feel anxiety, stress, depression, confusion, and anger. They can even cause us to do things that we know are not helpful, even harmful, to cope with the negative feelings. I have a passion for people's stories and walking with people through the painful but enriching process of getting unstuck. Wherever you find yourself, you are welcome to come exactly as you are.

Are you ready to integrate loving kindness and compassion into the relationship you have with yourself and others? This may seem an impossible healing for those who have endured relational betrayal, death, loss, hurt or trauma. However, shifting focus towards meaning, resilience, and possibility can liberate you from your past and present suffering. What does this mean for you and your loved ones? It means here is an invitation to sit with a non-judgmental human being while you recover, connect, and heal in new ways. It means you may shed old roles, affirm new strengths, and learn others with vulnerability and without guard.

I use an attachment-based, somatic approach to healing and include mindfulness and interventions from nonviolent communication, DBT, CBT, and ACT to build stabilization, engender self awareness and growth, and enable healing from events in the past that are re-experienced in the present, helping clients earn secure attachment to find safety and trust within.
Grounded in experiential and existential orientations, I work to understand the meaning you make of life. I walk with you to help identify purpose, values, and behaviors to live more authentically and deliberately. I foster a supportive, interpersonal therapeutic relationship, and my holistic approach taps into the body's innate wisdom to promote adaptive responses and facilitate healing. By choosing to move through discomfort--a normal and healthy response to life's uncertainties--you expand opportunities for growth. My prior career in business and technology enables me to understand the unique demands of corporate professionals.

You do not have to have lived through something literally life-threatening to be a trauma survivor. If you didn't get your basic or emotional needs consistently met during infancy and early childhood, you likely struggle in your adult relationships. You might be overly clingy, avoidant, or self-sabotaging with your friendships and romantic partners. Or maybe, for you, it shows up as anxiety, avoidance, dissociation, low self-worth, poor boundaries, and even self-destructive behaviors. This is called complex trauma or attachment-based trauma, and it can be healed!

I approach therapy from a relational psychodynamic and attachment-based framework, with strong influences from intersectional feminism and trauma-informed care practices.
Wherever you’ve been, however you’ve arrived, I’m glad you are here. To me, therapy is about taking time and space to listen to our bodies and emotions, with the hope of allowing us to reconnect with our inherent wisdom. We don't lose touch with this wisdom by accident. Trauma, unhealed wounds, and oppression separate us from our wisdom and intuition, and impact our ability to access all parts of ourselves. You and your body carry so much, from the grief and resilience of those who came before you, to the stress of everyday life. You were never meant to carry it all on your own.

I believe that all of the fulfillment that you seek to find externally, can be found within you. A lot of times, people spend their lives seeking ways to find joy and happiness in other things. This often leads to missing out on the beauty that is unfolding within their present day. It is easy for people to become consumed by their everyday lives and even easier to miss out on the simple things that bring happiness.

Is your mind constantly racing? Does the idea of having to talk about yourself or emotions seem overwhelming? Have others shared you're too sensitive or maybe you’ve found lights, textures, smells, or sounds can impact your mood? Does your body feel stressed (think tense shoulders, the sense you always have to be on, other people don't feel safe). Perhaps you wish the speeding heart, pit in your stomach, or sweaty palms could show up half as often as they do now? I’ll join you where you are and together we will explore awareness of your thoughts, emotions, body, and reactions. It does not always have the be the way it feels now.

How does safe space, acceptance just as you are, and conversation in which you feel met affect you? Do you find you are better able to say what’s really going on when carefully listened to? I believe therapy is an opportunity to pause in the rushed life we usually live to explore what we really think and feel. It is also a chance to explore your strengths, what is working, and what is getting in your way. Together we seek to hear your inner wisdom speak more and more distinctly. I am here to offer you a grounded, secure presence for the work you have come to do.

Have you felt unheard or alone in your relationship? Perhaps you’ve tried to express your feelings and emotions and yet you still feel that no one cares. I applaud you for taking the first step toward a healthier journey for yourself and relationship. After meeting my husband and completing pre-martial counseling of my own, I came to realize my passion for helping couples strengthen their emotional and physical bonds came as a natural strength. With experience working with the family unit, I strive to assist families in pursuing new solutions to their problems that ultimately strengthen the family dynamic.

We all have emotional wounds from the past. Left untreated, these experiences can harm us mentally, affect our relationships and make us unhappy. Therapy can help you explore, understand and ultimately heal by addressing the painful memories broken hearts, resentments, worries, and regrets that are often the root cause of the problem. By allowing ourselves to heal and grow, this experiences can also become sources of strengths and wisdom. I offer over a decade of experience as a clinical psychologist, helping people plant the seeds of change.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
