Some of the modalities and techniques I use include: attachment-based therapies, motivational interviewing, person-centered, solution- focused, trauma-informed, and strength-based treatment.
For as long as I can remember, human connection has been a passion and priority in my life. I have been working in the mental health field since 2017 and have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of populations including: young children, adolescents, teenagers, adults, premarital and marital couples, and families. I have experience working at different levels of care including outpatient, partial hospitalization, and inpatient facilities. I work from a collaborative and systemic perspective considering all of the inter-moving parts that may be impacting what is going on and together, we decide on the best course of action.

I use somatic EMDR, internal family systems (parts work), and attachment-based therapy to help you heal.
Are you ready to break down that wall and finally connect to the world around you? To live without painful memories and emotional flashbacks? Trauma - especially complex trauma - affects everything: your humanity, your identity, your ability to thrive. My clients often experience a negative self-image, depression, severe emotional ups and downs, and a near-constant sense of dread. Worst of all, they feel like they don’t know themselves and can’t relate to other people. This is not surprising considering my clients usually have a history of childhood abuse and/or neglect exacerbated by boundary violations in adulthood.

I use an attachment-based, systemic, and emotionally focused interventions to support adolescents, couples, families, and individuals find healing from depression, anxiety, trauma processing/recovery, communication, separation and divorce, parenting, stress management, life adjustments, and challenges in sexuality and sexual identity (LGBTQIA+ inclusive).
Sometimes life can leave the best of us feeling helpless, unlovable, and lonely. While Western culture promotes emotional independence as a strength, attachment science is discovering the opposite: humans are wired to experience vulnerability in connection with one another. From this evidence-based approach, my first priority is to build a genuine connection with you that fosters openness, trust, and compassion - to provide a safe haven where you can begin to develop curiosity and awareness around patterns that no longer serve you while helping you uncover a more authentic story of you and your place in the world.

I use somatic, mindfulness, & attachment-based therapy, nonviolent communication, & parts work.
Trauma-informed couple, polyamorous, & LGBTQIA+ relationship counseling for communication challenges! Are you struggling with communication? Does resolving conflicts feel overwhelming? Maybe you’re thinking ‘we love each other, why is this so hard?’. Are you noticing that you are getting triggered and want to learn ways to work with emotions that arise in your relationship? Maybe it feels difficult to make space for everyone’s feelings and needs. Are you leaving conversation feeling unheard? Maybe it’s feeling hard to trust and you’re not sure where that comes from.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
