Life can be hard. Don't struggle alone - I'm here to help! I’ve spent 15 years as a therapist working with young children, parents, families, and those unsure of their parenting future. My specialty is supporting parents (or potential future parents) to process their own childhood and family dynamics, to help them make the best decisions they can for their families. I love working with parents before, during, and after pregnancy, as well as using dyadic therapy for parent/child to process trauma together. Regardless of your parenting status, I can support you individually, or with your child.

I help clients that are struggling with addiction, trauma and symptoms of trauma, relationship issues, men's issues, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. There can be a variety of reasons to make a change and that change can only happen when we recognize that we want to improve our life. Generally people that are successful in accomplishing their goals are motivated to participate in the process and tend to view therapy as a supportive piece of that journey. There are no quick solutions to making a change, but if you choose to work with me, you will begin to see your life transform and I will be beside you along the way.

Finding peace in a complex world often involves seeking answers to sensitive and sometimes distressing questions. Unexpected loss, childhood traumas, and relationship distress lead to distress and disconnection from others. My therapeutic work is attachment-based and trauma informed to foster kindness, compassion, and respect for the whole person (mind, body, and spirit). I work with individuals, teens, and couples. I have advanced training in infidelity and affair recovery for couples, betrayal trauma, and partner recovery, as well as the use of EMDR with complex trauma. Additionally I am a Level 3 Gottman Method Therapist.

Using a sex-positive, attachment-based approach, we can help you gain an understanding of what turns you on and what sets you off.
As a certified sex and relationship therapist, I find many people have difficulty talking about sex and often define themselves by the sexual challenges they live with. Instead of seeing sexual differences as negative or bad, what if we can redefine them to focus on our ability to feel pleasure during our sexual experiences? Sex is often not “safe” for people in emotional or physical pain. Some people develop a fear of engaging in sex; others avoid even talking about sex. When leaning into fear and avoidance, they give up on pleasure and sexuality.

I utilize trauma-informed practices and gravitate towards attachment-based, values, and mindfulness practices.
Sometimes our inner world seems chaotic and stressful. Sometimes we feel like we are going through life surrounded by a fog and can’t see a way out. Sometimes we experience something so significant that our life is turned upside down and we have a hard time coping. Regardless of what you are experiencing right now, it does not reflect anything about your worth and you do not have to navigate it alone. My goal as a therapist is to provide opportunities for you to work through the challenges of life while reconnecting with your authentic self and embracing your inner-knowing.

Challenges are essential to growth. We all face challenges. The various challenges, crises, traumas we all inevitably encounter can create anxiety, depression, and disconnection. Unfortunately, labels and diagnoses can stop you from seeing that you are okay. As you are. Your felt experiences of hurt, when processed deeply, actually lead to self-discovery. Seeking help doesn’t mean that anything is necessarily wrong. In fact, expertise can guide you through these moments safely. Through somatic healing therapy, individuals and couples will find inner strength to start anew.

Lasting growth and transformation occur when we gently and courageously explore our own psyches. Through this process, we offer love to the parts of us that have been wounded, we uncover our limiting beliefs, and we learn to listen to our inner knowing. We are often run by our unconscious mind, allowing fear, trauma, and social conditioning to direct our thoughts and behavior. My role as therapist is to create a safe space for you to explore what is beneath the surface. Together, we'll help you develop greater self-awareness and self-connection, which leads to greater self-love, compassion and trust in yourself.

Has traditional talk therapy not felt like "enough"? Do you find it difficult to put words together to describe your experiences? Have you found yourself stuck in patterns, situations, or relationships? The teens, couples, & adults that we see often struggle with managing difficult emotions, anxiety, dissociation, depression, and grief. They have often experienced painful things in the past that they have buried. We help your brain process these things and heal. One of the biggest benefits of therapy is having a safe place to share how you are really doing & feeling. A place to explore thoughts & feelings using clay, art, & horses.

Therapy is a safe place to explore challenges in our lives & find strengths that we never knew we had. It has the potential to lift us out of our rut so that we can finally make the changes we've longed for. Whether you are working to decrease your anxiety, unmasking and living authentically, changing careers, exploring your gender or sexual identity, or trying to change your relationships, therapy can be a great place to get a fresh perspective & face these challenges with a champion by your side. My own identity as a multiracial, queer, gender nonconforming therapist enables me to understand clients who feel like outsiders.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
