My therapeutic approach mainly focuses on helping my clients identify their strengths to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and trauma. I am a firm believer that our childhood experiences contribute to our beliefs, behavioral patterns, and selecting a romantic partner. Therapy is a process! To allow ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable with someone about our experiences and trauma can be daunting. As a therapist, it is my goal to help validate, create a safe environment and help understand aspects of lived experiences.

My approach integrates psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical, and attachment-based theories while being mindful of systemic and cultural factors.
Therapy is often sought after a major life transition or stressor. However, there are myriad benefits to seeking support in the process of change or uncertainty. Perhaps you've noticed a shift in your mood, sleep, or appetite, or you've found yourself feeling tired and overwhelmed. If you wait until these symptoms exacerbate, they may compound with other complex issues that can become more difficult to resolve. Early intervention is essential.

You look put together, present yourself well, but are privately struggling. Your problems may not be immediately apparent to others, but internally you have a hard time with accepting yourself, being present in your life, and with finding joy. You work hard and are constantly juggling an array of tasks, but your relationships are sluggish and you feel overwhelmed and disconnected. You may be struggling with parenting and wonder why your intimate relationships, or the lack thereof, are so damn hard. You do not feel content and question whether you're good enough to do life well.

I specialize in spiritual and depth psychology and utilize a multi-theoretical framework that incorporates feminist, humanistic, existential, somatic, internal family systems, mindfulness, gestalt, psychodynamic, and attachment-based approaches.
My passion lies in supporting those of all ages and identity backgrounds who are interested in self exploration and discovery. I practice from a trauma informed, sex-positive, queer affirming, feminist, spiritual and social justice-oriented standpoint. Understanding how the “personal is political” and how psychological challenges are rooted in systemic oppression is central to my work. My experience in sexual/reproductive healthcare and working as a birth and postpartum doula catalyzed my interest in supporting those undergoing vulnerability regarding their sexuality, pain, pleasure, health, gender identity and life transitions.

My approach is primarily attachment-based and existential.
Born with an artistic temperament, I spent several decades toiling in the entertainment industry before shifting into the practice of therapy. Life experience has given me a deep understanding of what it takes to be an artist, how hard it is to survive in a creative field, and has given me a unique ability to delve into a client’s creative process. Artists tend to posses unique personal qualities, share similar struggles, and I specialize in both. This niche has also given me insight into highly sensitive people of all kinds.

With a deep focus on empowering individuals from all cultures, I am committed to giving you solace while providing a safe space for you to share your experiences and be heard without judgment.

What I offer: Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR); Attachment-based, strength-based, and compassion-focused approaches; expressive arts interventions; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; Polyvagal-informed approaches; EFT ("Tapping" Solution).
I focus on helping clients heal from painful experiences, big or small. I use EMDR, a powerful approach for trauma/PTSD to fast track treatment, making significant relief possible quickly while minimizing "re-living" the pain. I address clients' specific experiences and relationships, or explore the patterns that keep them from moving forward. I help clients better understand their situation and find their way out of confusion or overwhelming feelings. In addition to skill-building, I address origins or attachment "wounds" that contribute to these issues.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
