I am a dedicated clinician who has worked in residential, outpatient, and private practice settings, which has given me a unique ability to offer support, compassion, valuable experience and a healthy relationship where a client can heal and grow in a way that is personalized to them. The focus of my work is providing therapeutic services to adolescent and adult individuals who struggle in areas including addiction, life transitions, anxiety, depression and trauma. I am incredibly passionate about helping clients discover new things about themselves and move towards their most authentic life.

I believe that each person has a unique, sacred, and often times messy, story that is woven together by experience. At times, these experiences can contribute to feelings of disconnection in relationships, an increase in anxiety and depression, or other challenges in your life. I provide a safe place where you are fully accepted as you currently are and given the space to reflect, explore, and grow holistically into who you want to be. I have a heart for working with individuals and families focusing on issues of trauma, grief, identity, and life transitions.

I will help you process and have a better understanding of the problems you present and we will address these problems by strengthening and deepening your own skills.

When deciding if your child or adolescent could benefit from therapy services, it can be a stressful experience fueled by uncertainty. Whether your child is struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, managing emotions/behavior, social skills, or issues at school, the goal of therapy is to identify the underlying cause and help the child develop the skills and tools necessary to better manage life's challenges. While addressing an individual child's specific challenges, it is also important to engage parents and other family members to identify how to best support long term positive change within the family unit.

Dr. Judy Fluor Runels has been working with people living with HIV and AIDS since 2000. She has a Psy.D. in Psychology/Marriage and Family Therapy. She works with couples, individuals, and groups, assisting them to develop better relationship and communications skills, and has extensive experience in working with people living with a chronic or terminal illness. Her theoretical orientation is humanistic, existential, and experiential, and she is completing Certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She is currently on the Medical Staff at Huntington Beach Hospital's Department of Psychiatry.

My ideal client is someone who has been struggling with addictions of all kinds, and is ready to receive help. I have worked with individuals and families affected by substance abuse, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD for 30 years. I am also trained in neurofeedback and have been integrating with talk therapy for 23 years. This helps with anxiety, ADHD and aspergers.
