I am a clinical mental health counselor, but that's just my title. What I actually do is help people recognize their own potential and heal from past experiences and trauma. I am a licensed clinical social worker in Elmhurst, IL. My experience includes helping adults with severe mental illness with their daily activities as well as facilitating group therapy at a residential treatment facility; working as a parent coach and counselor for families with children with attachment disorders; counseling individuals, couples, and families with a variety of different issues; as a school social worker in a private school; providing training to school staff on attachment disorders; and consulting for other psychotherapists.

Dr. Shana Mehta works with teenagers and adults who struggle with various forms of anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. She has expertise with individuals who experience mood difficulties, generalized anxiety or panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, addiction, trauma, divorce, parenting difficulties, and significant life transitions. Additionally, she specializes in eating disorder treatment, specifically binge eating, compulsive overeating, emotional overeating, mindless eating, Bariatric Evaluations and pre- and post- Bariatric care.

Renee is passionate about therapy! She sensitively works with teens, adults and children to create healthy change, relieve stress, and give support for relationship issues. She works with you to relieve distress from anxiety, strengthening your Self, and/or sorting sexual and gender identity. Many of the clients she works with have had a background of Complex Trauma, PTSD, Grief, and Eating Disorders. As Graduate School trained Sand Tray Play Therapist, Renee also works with children in Sand Tray Play Therapy.
