I have worked over 15 years with individuals in outpatient and inpatient settings. I am currently in private practice in Franklin, TN where I continue my focus primarily on treating individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (formerly known as Asperger's Syndrome). I guide clients in learning self-regulation skills, self-awareness to become more socially integrated, improve social communication and begin to think and behave in more flexible, less rigid manner. I seek to help individuals with ASD learn more about themselves and appreciate their unique strengths as they tackle their "challenges" with humor and a sense of hopefulness.

I have devoted my life to working with children and adolescents. My experiences as a mother, K-12 teacher, elementary school counselor, school psychologist, and therapist have prepared me to work with youth who demonstrate a range of problems at school, home, and play. My clients are often depressed, have severe behavioral problems, have trouble making friends, demonstrate symptoms of anxiety, or have been victims of abuse or trauma. I believe all clients have within themselves the capacity for growth and positive change, provided the proper conditions in an environment of unconditional acceptance and self-worth.

I have a passion to help people find hope and healing through their difficult times in life. I want people to know that they are not alone, as well as to feel like they are heard and can be understood. I like to work from a holistic point of view by incorporating your mind, body and soul into the healing process. I want to help people take back control over their thoughts and help them to express themselves in a safe environment. I want to help people learn to love themselves again and feel a connection from the healing process. I believe that we were made to grow in life by working together and learning from one another.

I started Aptitude Behavioral Services, LLC to service school-age children in the East TN area. I love working with children through pre-teen ages and have also worked with a few higher-functioning teenagers. My typical day involves working with families that face challenges with behavior and working directly with children to decrease these behaviors while building skill deficits. I enjoy including family in my sessions and want to empower caregivers and family members so that they are equipped to handle behavioral challenges.

I specialize in working with autistic and neurodivergent indviduals. Throughout my career I have advocated for my clients’ needs in the educational system, community agencies, and in higher education. I have encountered several barriers in these settings, including a lack of support in providing equal access and accommodations to neurodivergent individuals. This has guided me to focus my skills on providing a safe therapeutic environment that fosters accessibility, diversity, and inclusion.
