I have worked in outpatient mental health for over 20 years with a variety of mental disorders including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, attachment disorders, autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD and other childhood behavioral disorders.

Sometimes life throws us lemons, and prioritizing our self-care and mental health helps us cope! I enjoy supporting others through individual therapy, as well as parent coaching. For individual therapy I work with both male and female clients, ages 12 and older. My therapeutic approach incorporates Positive Psychology (e.g., compassion, gratitude, mindfulness, and resilience to stress), as well as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other forms of treatment.

I experience my greatest joy as they achieve their goals and experience healing.I use an integrative approach to therapy inspired by a variety of evidence based practices, including, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy, and mindfulness. I've received advanced training in CBT, having successfully completed a cognitive behavioral therapy certificate course led by Dr. John Ludgate, who trained under Dr. Aron Beck, founder of cognitive therapy.

Prior to moving to North Carolina, Kara worked as a therapist in both outpatient and inpatient facilities in NY serving children and their families. Since moving to Charlotte, she has taught at UNC Charlotte and Wingate in their social work and Psychology programs. She has experience with trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, child sexual abuse, anger management, and attachment issues.
