Whether clients are looking for support and encouragement to maximize strengths or need assistance in dealing with a wide variety of psychological issues, effective therapy begins with the formation of a relationship. I place an emphasis on meeting patients where they are, which includes taking into account environmental factors, culture, ethnicity, and family/interpersonal history. Then, collaborating together to understand goals, assets, and challenges in order to create a plan to solve problems and increase understanding. By integrating various theoretical approaches and utilizing current research from psychology and neuroscience, my goal is to provide effective individualized treatment.

My passion is helping couples who feel completely stuck in their relationship learn how to communicate effectively, as well as individuals seeking therapy who need support to find themselves again. I have competency in all types of relationships, people with physical &/or intellectual disabilities, OCD and anxiety, parenting, sexual orientation, and addiction.

Doug has many years of professional therapy experience working with children and adults. His specialities include: trauma, child abuse, depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, adoption, sexual identity, and life transitions. Clients appreciate his calm, reassuring and engaging presence and knowledgeable, empowering and creative approaches for understanding and overcoming these serious problems. Your values, ideas and preferences are fully respected and help create truly meaningful results. Doug has a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Thomas University, a Certified Narrative Therapist, and Registered Play Therapist.

We don't always choose what happens to us but we do have a choice in how we respond to what happens. Therapy can assist in helping create healthy constructive responses that nurture growth and healing. I hope to create a safe, non-judgmental space in order for this to happen. I have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have worked with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, parent/child conflict, codependency, life transitions, grief/loss, OCD, ADHD, and personality disorders. I am also an EMDRIA approved EMDR trained clinician.

Honestly, he’s a really great guy. Chris is the type of therapist that can help you work through some real, heavy stuff, but he can also have you laughing right after (He does improv comedy. Like, what? Awesome!). And, as he would say, "But, I’m also hardcore nerdy and love building an authentic, lighthearted relationship with clients. I love to talk video games, the MN Twins, comedy, and anything alternative. So, I dig it all.”
