Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to review my profile! I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, and young adults to help them gain confidence and acknowledge all of their capabilities. My purpose is to provide a space where you will feel supported, heard, and validated. My former experience has been working with ages 6 to young adults conducting neuropsychological assessments under the direction of Dr. Alaina Conner. This experience gave me insight and empathy into the daily living obstacles that neurodivergent individuals face.

I am Jo Raphael, LCSW, ACSW, BCD, and during the COVID-19 pandemic I am working virtually only using secure on line platforms. At the current time I am working with older adolescents and adults providing assessment, consultation, and treatment with a warm, empathic and supportive demeanor. My professional experience spans over 40 years and I have a passion for helping others. Together we will find ways to help you to understand, look at, cope with and tweak your current situation.

I work well with the client who genuinely wants to seek out counseling in order to find answers, solutions, or different perspectives to their struggles. Client success comes from being vulnerable, admitting and recognizing flaws, a desire to improve and become better, and an openness to being challenged. People come to counseling for a myriad or reasons including grief, unhappiness with life circumstances, feeling lost, lack of motivation, lack of purpose, and any other major life event causing turmoil. Through a trusted and trained adult in the therapeutic journey, clients will discover the neglected areas of their lives.

I thoroughly enjoy working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. As a licensed psychologist having worked at different settings and with different age groups, I appreciate the nuance that each person brings to the therapy room. I work collaboratively with clients to figure out the solutions that will best meet each individual’s specific needs. For some, that can mean implementing certain strategies and solutions, while others might require a closer look at one’s identity and close relationships to determine a good path forward. I do my best to ensure that you feel valued, understood, and respected.

My practice focuses on psychotherapy, neuropsychological assessment, and educational advocacy. Due to COVID, I am offering tele-assessment for those in high risk groups or w/ family members who are. Issues include: learning problems, employment challenges, relationship struggles, life transitions, developmental disorders, medical illnesses, and stress of being a member of a diverse group (LGBT, ethnic minorities, etc.). I see children/adults who may be unconventional, anxious, depressed or do not fit comfortably within their environment. The label “disability” may be applied to them, but “differently abled” is more accurate.

Terry Samuels earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in December 1994 from Armstrong Atlantic University. Terry obtained his Master of Public Administration degree in December 1996 from Georgia State University. Terry obtained his Master of Professional Counseling degree in December 2015 from Grand Canyon University. Terry completed a 10-month internship at Intown Psychological Associates and completed the hours required for his associate license. Terry is a fully licensed therapist in the state of Georgia (LPC011391). Terry obtained his doctorate in psychology from Grand Canyon University in November of 2023.

Dr. Lawanda Harmon has been actively working in the field of mental health since 2010. With a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling obtained from Walden University, she began working at Community Friendship Inc. as an individual and group therapist. Lawanda continued to pursue her education at the doctoral level, obtaining a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Walden University. During her practicum and internship field experiences, she gained extensive training in Cognitive and Behavioral techniques as well as in Emotional, Personality, and Trauma focused interventions at Atlanta Center for Family Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia.
