Alison has over 14 years of experience in counseling those suffering from a variety of issues including mood disorders such as grief, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder as well as behavior disorders such as Impulse Control and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. She has also worked extensively with children who have been abused and neglected and suffer from the trauma they endured in the formative years of their life.

I strive to help individuals learn ways to improve communication, decrease stress, improve coping skills, and to set personal goals in life. I am motivated to help you succeed. My focus is to provide unconditional positive regard for my clients and to provide specialized therapeutic services for each client. My specialties include depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, and neurodiversity, to include ADHD. I am a certified Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).

I enjoy the therapeutic process and helping people to grow, change, develop, and become. I enjoy helping people develop a plan of self care in a safe and nonjudgmental setting. With today's challenges to find time for self care I have recently added two new services to include: Tele-therapy as an option for clients who cannot come into the office for traditional services, and emotional support animal evaluation for those who need documentation of their need for their emotional support pet.

My passion is to help aid my clients in identifying who they are, where they are and where they are wanting to get too. I work to help resolve conflict individually, in families, and/or relationships. Each client's story and journey is specific to them so my goal is to shape treatment to the specific needs of each person. We will work through the difficult moments, learn skills to aid in independence, and become comfortable enough to reach out for support when something is not working. Breaking patterns and creating new ones based off the person/family/couple you strive to be is the goal of each session.

I have extensive clinical experience, 20 years+, working in the trauma-related, mental health, and counseling fields. I have been clinically licensed as a LMFT since 2006 and am an active member (clinical fellow) of AAMFT/GAMFT. My clinical path has allowed me to gain significant knowledge and experience in the field of mental health & counseling, clinical consultation, and speaking. I provide ongoing counseling in the areas of individual (children, adolescents, and adults), family, marital/couple/pre-marital, and group therapy. In addition, I am EMDR Trained and obtained my certification as a Certified First Responder Counselor.

Mary Barnes is a native to Brunswick, GA and has a passion for working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families to establish healthy relationships and coping strategies. She completed her graduate work at Valdosta State University with an M.S. in Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Coursework emphasis was placed on Early Childhood and Adolescent development and therapeutic interventions. Her background includes providing individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents along with their families in an outpatient setting, school based programs, and residential facility.

I have been in practice for a number of years, so my experiences are varied. I work with everyone.....children, adolescents and adults. I am knowlegeable and skillful in the treatment of emotional, behavioral and substance abuse issues. I am fortunate to have practiced with extremely knowledgeable and skillful clinicians as my mentors so my skills go beyond the textbooks. I treat my clients with courtesy and respect; as I expect my friends and family to be treated should they ever need professional assistance. I give 100% in assisting them in resolving their issues. If I can't help them, I'll help them find someone who can.

I work with children and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and adjustment difficulties as they navigate through life. My therapeutic approach includes Play Therapy, CBT, ABA, Strength-Based, and Mindfulness to address educational, social, behavioral and psychological concerns. Today may be one of the “Bad Days,” maybe even the worst yet. Lately, bad days are becoming more frequent. Racing thoughts, worry, anxiety, sadness, and lack of motivation seem to be taking over everything. You’re doing your best, but doing day to day tasks becomes a battle that is becoming harder to win. You’re always tired. Your brain never stops. Loved ones are concerned and maybe complain, which makes you feel worse. You shut down and either put on a show or avoid the people, tasks, and events that are important. I am a clinical psychologist with a background in philosophy, who enjoys helping people untie the mental and emotional knots that have held them back. Much of my work involves properly identifying the problems-in-living with which my clients are struggling and eliciting their latent skills and creative resources to overcome those problems.
