I started out my professional career as a church pastor, and in my 40's transitioned into becoming a counselor/therapist. I guide people to get over problems and to be their deeper, higher, and more loving, compassionate self.

I want to provide an environment where you feel like you can be your best self. This happens by providing a safe space for you to feel cozy, welcomed and heard. When you are in the right space and with the right person, it gives you the ability to be open to discuss any issues or concerns to improve and become the best version of you.

Greetings! I'm Nathan, and I'm genuinely excited about the opportunity to meet with you. With a Masters of Social Work from West Virginia University and additional post-graduate work in Special Education from Radford University, I bring a solid educational foundation to my practice. Over the past 20 years, I have been dedicated to assisting individuals of all ages—children, families, and adults—through various challenges such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship struggles, and trauma. My experience has honed my skills and deepened my understanding of the complexities people face in their lives.

My professional interests include depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and serious mental illness. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families in therapy. I also focuses on stress management and wellness in my clinical work. My therapeutic influences are primarily Humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Systemic, and Interpersonal theories.

College Students: Do you need strategies and support for increased confidence and calm in your life? We'll work at your pace, on what is most important to you. For over 20 years, I've worked with people from diverse backgrounds to address anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem, relationships, attention deficit disorders, learning disabilities, executive functioning skills, and academic strategies. I use a variety of approaches (ex: cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused, etc) although sessions are always based on your goals, needs, and preferences.

I’ve lived with the challenges faced by those with severe learning disabilities within my own family. This isn’t a business for me. It’s a passion spanning decades of searching for a better answer for struggling learners—the solution - Precision Teaching. Effective learning requires a program customized to your child’s needs with high rates of deliberate practice, expert feedback, and reinforcement guided by ongoing data analysis. It’s breaking complex skills into its core parts to build stronger skills. It’s discovering your child can learn and become a more agile and cognitively fit learner.
